Blog versus Journal?

Many of our members here spend time visiting with other folks in the Journals and Blogs. Because they are pretty similar in concept, you may wonder which would be the best choice for you...
You're welcome to have both if you like. We don't mind, if that's what you want! Choose either, neither or both as suits you. But to help you decide, here's the difference:
- Journals here traditionally have one active thread per member. If you'd like to close out a journal and open a new one, you can do it yourself or ask for help. But having one active journal thread per member helps make it less confusing for folks to follow your journal. And people do follow those journals!
- Blogs have one entry per topic instead of a single, ongoing discussion. Folks can comment on individual topics, of course.
- Journals are more active than blogs here, probably in large part because they've been available a lot longer. So if you're looking for a party, head for the journals. If you're off to a quieter corner to reflect, settle into a blog.
- Which format do you prefer? I'm a blogging gal myself for several years now, so I'm comfortable with the blogging format. Others like the ongoing back and forth that happens in a Journal.
- The Family Room is often used for Journaling as well. Only members who have made enough posts to earn a star by their name can access the Family Room. You're welcome to move your Journal to the Family Room when you get enough posts to do so; just ask any Staff Member for help.
The Journals and Blogging are where many of the friendships are forged at LCE, since people sharing back and forth is...well, that's the stuff friendships are made of, isn't it?
