The mission of Low Carb Eating is to provide support for healthy, sustainable low-carb living—via community, education, and resources. The site promotes a moderate approach to healthy lifestyle changes,including a reduced carbohydrate way of eating and exercise for lifelong weight management. Founded in 1999 by Andrea Mondello as a personal homepage to share her own amazing low carb success with others struggling with weight problems, it has since grown into a friendly low carb community.

In April, 2007, Low Carb Eating was purchased by Dixie Vogel, former site moderator (who also lost over a hundred pounds low-carbing). Dixie also runs Good Karma Host, a New Age web hosting company.

Low Carb Eating currently reaches over 22,000 unique visitors a month, with over 89,000 pageviews. About 80% of visitors arrive via search engines. Atkins is the most popular plan among our membership, followed by Protein Power and ad hoc adaptations of established plans. 

The Low Carb Eating Newsletter, estabilshed August, 2009, is currently published monthly to over 3700 subscribers. The newsletter features reviews, brief articles, and recipes.

Our audience distribution tends to be more female, older, and better-educated than average, based on panel demographics evaluation. Index per 100 average internet users. (More about our site analytics.)
