heykim, I read several articles when they first released this story that said they put Paul on a low-fat diet of 1200 cals. long before they made arrangements to move him from his house. One article noted that his health status was not actually known until after they moved him to the hospital. I sometimes wonder if they haven't contributed to his problems by such a low-cal diet. A man that size would need 4x that amount just to blink and breathe!
I tried to find where I accessed the other stories, but couldn't.

As for that other woman, I still can't get over the fact that her 1st cousin is a social worker in that county and the "daughter" claiming she had just seen the woman 2 weeks before!
Of course, we have to take into account that this occured in Fla. where the Dept. of Social Services and Human Welfare still can't account for over 50 children who were placed in foster care. Some of these children were missing for over 2 yrs. before their social worker noticed they were gone.

Yeah--I am from NE and had seen some articles while at home on vacation. . .his family was fighitng him every step of the way ont he diet--but since he could not get up to go get his food he ate only what they brought him. . .I agree that part of his heart issue may/could have been low fat/1200 cal diet, but it didn't hurt him to lose weight that way either--Doctorw were monitoring him though. . .or supposedly. . .so, while all isn't perfect he is improving and getting the help he needed/needs.

WOW!! He lost the equivalent of mine, my daughter's and my dog's total weight in just 8 weeks. Amazing. This man has alot of weight loss, therapy, and surgery ahead of him. I always wonder when I read of a case like this: when was the last time they sat/layed down? There had to be a last time if they are couch- or bed-ridden. And they probably never realize that it would be their last time to get up for a long time.

I just DO NOT understand why people would bring him enough food to help him gain up to over 1000 lbs. I'm not judging....I just don't GET that.

Did any of you see a lady named Joelle on Dr. Phil last season? She weighed 611 and had the disease that makes your limbs swell alot, some sort of lymphedema or something. I wonder how she is doing now. Maybe I'll peruse the good doctor's boards and see....

I never understood that either. Maybe he just yelled often and loudly or he guilted his family into it. I'm just glad he's on his way back.
