Well, I've had an issue pop up. I have broken out into hives or cold sores or something on the roof of my mouth. I went to the doctor today and she checked it out and the issue of my weight came up. She said she's thrilled with my weight loss, but since I told her I'm on atkins she took some blood for that and other reasons (My hair is falling out and both my parents are diabetic, so she wants to make sure.) I'm worried aboutthe blood test. They've already taken the blood and all, I'm afraid of two things, the diabetes (which I'm not symptomatic) and the idea that atkins has mixed up my blood and she'll tell me to try something else.

Blah, just needed to get that off my chest.

Red~

Well my dear, the blood tests are gonna say what they're gonna say whether you lose sleep or not, so try to think of it as simply information-gathering at this point. Something is going on with your system, and it will be good to get an answer about the hair loss and mouth sores.

I'm not a doctor, but I wonder if maybe you've got some kind of allergy or medication reaction going on. It just seems that the 71 pounds you've lost (wow!) has GOT to mean good lab results in terms of your blood sugar and your lipid profile. Sure hope so, anyway - keep up posted.

Chrissy, BLAH indeed!

Don't forget that many of us went through a bit of hair loss with this WOE...and the hives/cold sores could easily be some weird allergy or virus.

I'll bet dollars to donuts that your blood work will show good results.

Keep the faith, and keep us posted!

I'm having my blood work done on Monday. I hope to see good numbers again. Wish me luck.

Husband and I went last week. I was a little nervous, too. Haven't seen a Dr. for years. neither did DH. So we both went. Our Dr. was very happy with us being on Atkins. He said it was the right diet for us. He send us to the lab for blood work also. The test came back yesterday. Just as I expected... our cholesterol is a little high, and so is our blood sugar. But not to bad. The test also said our liver was showing a little bit of abnormality. Neither one of us drinks etc.. So we think it might be all the different supplements we have been taking. So the Dr. told us just to take a multi vitamin and Vitamin C and come back in 2 month for a re-check. I am very glad we went. Now we have something to check our progress in two month.

Well, I got test results today, or rather, the doctor left me message on the machine and told me to call back if I want to have specific numbers (the office is closed so I'll have to wait) but she said my test results were GREAT! So I take that to mean, no diabetes, normal to low cholestrol and that my thyroid is just fine. Now if only I knew why my hair was falling out. Oh and the weird little blisters on the roof of my mouth? That have now spread all over my lips so I look like a leper? Impetigo. So I'm on antibiotics as its a bacterial infection and antibacterial ointment for the lips. So anyway, I thought I'd let you all know how the bloot test went. I'll post the exact numbers when I get them.

Doing happy dance.

HURRAH!

That's good news...not about the impetigo, but the rest is awesome.
