    Default Beansmom is still alive!

I am still sucking air! I had the gastric bypass on March and to date have lost from 410 to 286. My life has changed drastically--and while some things were not so great, the majority is marvelous!

I feel better, look better and think better than I have in years.

I havent' been lc'ing like I should but am trying to get back to it. The holidays took their toll.

I wouldn't recommend GB for anybody else--it's such an individual decision--but it literally saved my life.

    Happy New Year to all!

    Beansmom:
I wasn't here when you left, but I did go through and read some of the older posts...including yours. I am so very glad that you are back. And to see that you are still down 100 pounds is great! Keep up the good work!!!

I've known a couple people who have gone through the bypass. One woman, who was into her early stages and still on the liquid diet scared me when she told me would happened if she ate too much when she started back on real foods. A gentleman that used to attend my church had the bypass but, sadly gained the weight back after several years. He was such a sweet, good-hearted man with a fabulous smile. I just ached to know the pain he must have gone through both in getting the weight off and putting it back on.

You have been through the worst. You know what you need to do. You will do just fine.

    Again, welcome home.
    Melissa

You've got a great success story. The GB is a big part but I know from having met some people that have had it and not lost much at all or gained the weight back that it takes discipline as well. I think a lot of people fell off during the holidays. I kept messing up in December. Not terribly but I didn't feel right all month. But it's a new year. You've done so well. Low carbing will only help you continue your success and not slide back. Keep up the good work.

Actually (hear the horn tooting?) I have lost a total of 146 pounds since Dec 27, 2003. And I thank all of you for your encouragement. It's just what I need while I'm trying to get back on track.

Melissa, I have many friends who did the GB and all of them have kept their weight off...in fact, some--3 years out from surgery--are still losing a bit. So, it's an individual thing...like everything else. YMMV! My loss has slowed quite a bit but I think I'm in one of those places where my body is trying to re-shift the metabolism. I'm not worried. And I can eat an average, 'normal' meal--so from here on out...just like everyone on this board, it's going to be a matter of making good choices--which I haven't been but am trying to re-start.

I was wearing a size 34 dress--now it's 22. I am a shopaholic now...lol. For a gal that wouldn't even carry a purse...I have about 30 new ones in my closet. And shoes! My goodness...at 432-i wore the old sneakers all the time. Today, I have the cutest 3inch heeled pumps on---something I thought I could never wear again. (My legs look awfully good in them )

Lost another 250---thru divorce. Kind of sad but kind of not, either. I am dating and it's nice. In fact, have met someone really nice. Mostly, tho, it's all about me and how good I feel now!

It feels real good to be back. I love you all...thanks for your support.

Twist my arm, Kim! He's an architect and a professor...very well-traveled. Very sweet! Prettiest eyes I've ever seen.

There are others I chat with as well...a fire chief/stand up comic in CA, a businessman in Portugal, a geologist in London, financial planner in New York, Senior VP in Boston...I'm a very popular gal! It's been a blast getting to know all these different people.

So...while the divorce is sad, it was coming for a long time and I think my ex knew it. So...here I am...single but happier.

It's good to hear from you. I have missed you all.
