| Clear American (found at Walmart) Flavored, carbonated water. The label reads: Calories 0 Total fat 0 Total Carb 0 Sugars 0 Protein 0 It states that it is also caffeine free, and sodium free. Ingredients: Carbonated water Natural Flavor citric acid potassium citrate aspartame potassium benzoate I know there is no substitute to plain water, but could this count as daily water intake, or does anyone see any red flags here? Just Believe. |

| Some say no, because it contains Aspartame, and that can stall weight loss. Some will say yes, as long as it has not sugar, carbs or calories. Best thing to do is try it and see what it does for you. |

| I use the Walgreens brand of non-carbonated flavored water - I substitute 1-2 bottles per day for plain water, and have had no problems. I definitely wouldn't use ALL of it in place of plain water... |

| Two things, as someone else mentioned aspartame can impare your ability to lose weight. I can only have a little each day or I get into trouble. The other thing is you shouldn't drink any carbonated beverage before or during exercise. I forget exactly why, something about the co2 maybe and the muscles or maybe it was joints. Anyway, I just remember the HUGE don't do it and have stuck by that for myself. Of course, as with everything else on this diet, it's up to you and what YOUR body can handle. | I would count it, as I follow the philosophy from DietPower on water and fluids:
quote:
In addition, most foods contain a lot of water. Coffee and tea are more than 99-percent water;* milk and soft drinks, about 90-percent. Most fruits and vegetables are 90-percent wateržthat's why they shrivel so much when dried, and why iceberg lettuce actually contains a higher proportion of water than orange juice does. Even meats and cheese are half water. (snipped for brevity) * Incidentally, the common belief that caffeinated drinks don't count toward water intake is false. The amount of water they supply vastly outweighs their diuretic effects. Copyright Š 1992-2002 by DietPower, Inc. If you are drinking this and losing weight, I wouldn't worry about that. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic |

| Some say no because of the citric acid. I used to drink it by the tons quite a while ago and was told by Nancy (a former member of these boards who was, er....obsessive and that's the nicest words I can say about her at the moment) that citric acid is what is found in fruit and if it's also in a drink then it stands to reason that I can't drink it and lose weight, since I also can't eat fruit and lose weight. Didn't make sense to me then and now that I look at it again in black and white, it still doesn't make too much sense.
