| Anyway.. I noticed something today. When I go to the grocery store, I don't even acknowledge the "bad food" anymore. I don't look at the cookies or walk down the donut row and think "how unfair it is that I can't have any".. somehow, my mind has turned it off. This very same grocery store use to draw me in with a tempting, soothing, inviting smell of fresh baked bread and other bakery delights. Today, I honestly didn't smell anything. I also helped my son with a few dozen Rice Crispy Treats for a school bake sale and never smelled them.. until I did so intentionally. I didn't even have that impulse to lick my fingers when I got it all over me I guess my point through all the fog is that the mind is so amazing. I walk through life now knowing what I was designed to eat, hone in on that, and don't seem to even acknowledge other foods with a single bit of thought or interest. I only hope my body has managed this feat as a solid triumph once and for all over being overweight and unhealthy. Have any of you lost your smell and recognition of 'bad food'? I owe you ALL a big huge hug for being such great people and so supportive ThanksJust Believe. |

| First off, WakingUp, congrats on getting a compliment from your hubby. Feels good, doesn't it, when people notice? Second, you are sooooo right about mindset being key. I firmly believe that I started on the right track when I make that mental leap from "I can't have that" to "I don't want that". It made all the difference for me. When the brain is going in the right direction, the heart and stomach will follow. Good luck on your journey...I think that with your attitude, you can't fail. {{hugs}} back at ya, Trina Cooking is at once child's play and adult joy. | Congratulations on your weight loss and the nice compliment from your hubbie. I know how much that means. I have noticed a few things about this WOL. Unless you're looking in the market for new items, shopping from your regular grocery list is pretty simple. You will find that you shop the perimeter of the store, it's where most of the whole foods are that we LCers eat. I'm constantly amazed as I stroll through the grocery just how much "man made" food is there. Most of it full of sugar, bad fats and carbs. There's great compromise for convenience of preparation. With our busy lifestyle we have embraced those convenience foods and the retail world took note. It seems now that the LC lifestyle is turning lots of heads in food companies. Supply and demand! It's wonderful for you that your new WOE is becoming second nature. After almost two years with this WOL I realize more than ever the consequences of putting unhealthy carbs into my body. I still want them from time to time, but I really think it through before I make the decision to indulge. Best wishes. LCE Member since 01/02 341/287.5/185 |

| Yes, when the mind clicks, you know you can continue with this way of life.... It is like it all comes together at once. I know it happened after my first week of induction,I had a birthday party to go to at a Mexican rest. and I was sure I would mess up... But got there and didn't eat the chips and salsa sitting there, infact I walked away from the table for a little so I wouldn't be tempted. Instead of drinking margaritas, I had a couple of shots of tequela instead (no carbs), and I ordered a taco salad. When the salad came out, I took the shell and put it on another plate and had it taken away. I used sour cream and salsa for the dressing and ate away.... what a great feeling to know that you can go out and enjoy a meal anywhere. To get back to the beginning of this rant, I just feel that I have put that old way of eating in the garbage, and don't think I will ever go back that way. carolyn in texas |
