I started Atkins in January of this year and have since lost 73 pounds. All without cheating. But today was my first planned cheat and I think I controlled myself pretty good, but let me say, eating that stuff seemed really really weird.

I went to a bridal showcase as I'm getting married in april. My maid of honor (who's been doing the south beach diet)and I cruised around looking at dresses, djs, photographers and....drum roll....cakes. I had planned on not tasting any cake before the wedding, but how on earth was I to pick one I really approved of. So I sacrificed and ate a few little bits. The pieces they offered were no larger than 1-2 inche cubes. I probably had about 4 or 5 or so, about enough to amount to a decent sized slice. Let me tell you, the carrot cake was fantastic. Anyway, they also had caterers. I managed a small appetizer sample, chicken salad on a small heart piece of toast, a low carb friendly cherry tomato stuffed with cheese, some meats, and a grape dipped in chocolate, which really seemed too sweet for me. I think that all in all I did really well. I didn't go nuts, I just sampled a few things, and believe it or not, coupled with a bottle of water I was really stuffed. And then it hit me, I got so darned sleepy it was amazing. (I'm sick too, so that may be part of it). Anyway, I'd planned on not weighing myself tomorrow just incase I did something bad, but I just wanted you all to know that even though I did a planned cheat, I kept it under control.

Chrissy~

You've done an amazing job on the weight loss, and I was so glad to hear of your good lab results in your other post. Now I'll be waiting to hear whether today's little indulgences affect your appetite or cravings over the next few days....do let us know how it goes!

Chrissy. I applaud your 73 pound loss! WooHoo!
Then, to think you've stayed true to your program is awesome. What an inspiration to the everyone.

I think you pulled through the bridal show pretty well. That event was a pretty good reason to have a few carbs.

Hats off to ya! Best wishes on your wedding.
