    Default uncle sam cereal

hey guys, what's the word on this stuff? my mom eats it a lot and it says it's got a low glycemic index and is high in fiber and protein... but how does it jive with LC eating? i miss cereal and there's noplace around here to get the staples to make my own (that and i am poor and inept at making things hehe)

    so what's up with it??

I've never heard of it, so I looked up their site.

Here's a link to the cereal:

From what I read in their .pdf, it seems like it should be pretty good. "Whole" grains are always better for you than the processed stuff. (Still had to cut thru all the advertising BS in there)

I would figure that if you are on OWL or later then you should be able to have some at least once a week without issue. Would not be good for Induction thought.
If I see it in this area I would like to give it a try.

28 net carbs in a cup...

if you only ate a HALF cup that would be 14 BEFORE the added milk or half and half or whatever you added to eat it with...

wouldnt be MY first choice.... but then... i am addicted to MAGS cereal.... and the ease with which i make it.. (i dont like to cook) ... grind up the flaxseed fresh in my little tiny food processor... (takes a minute or so...) toss in the isolate protein..(whoooooooooa.. ANOTHER 2 seconds...*L*) toss in the wheat bran... YIKES! another second or two.. stir it up in a big bowl.... cover... and drag out the bowl from the fridge every day... scoop out a quarter or half cup (depending on how hungry i feel) NUKE a cup of water or so... (yeah.. i'm not big on measuring either *L*) pour the boiling water into the bowl... rip open a pkg of splenda... swirl in a little sf maple syrup... VOILA! IN LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES i have a warm ... yummy... bowl of cereal... and i can make it as goopy or thick as i like... i can add crap in... berries.. chopped nuts.. whatever i want... and it is GREAT stuff..
of course i call it my ICKY CEREAL... heh heh... so now even the human garbage disposal (the baby) doesnt ask to eat it...*grin*...

yeah... you take those five minutes... and you can have something wonderful to eat LC whenever you want it...

plus.. PLUS! i can not stress this enough.. it is GREAT for fiber ...

shhhhhhhhh... and its probably purdy healthy too.. ;-)

I'm with Kim on this one....... that is too many carbs for me to have in ONE meal.... Maggie's cereal is wonderful, especially enjoy it during the cooler months. Hard for me to want ANYTHING warm in this heat, but will be enjoying it on a regular basis this fall and winter. I'd say, even if you have to order the ingredients to make it online, well worth it. It will last you a very long time as you only use 1/4 cup or so at a time.

if you're looking for ready-2-eat cereal to buy, there are some newer ones out that are very high fiber, kellogs and post and such. i've seen a few and they often have "fiber" in the name and they have net carbs listed on the front, and it runs from about 8 or 9 to 13 per serving, so it's definitely do-able. or at least, it has been for me.
