It's 11:30 and I'm back home. Another IV (in my hand this time, different arm) and more drugs. Take my steroids every 4 hours, and Bendedryl ever 6..

Oh, my! I wonder why the hives and swelling keep returning? Does it take a while for the Protonix to get out of your system? Yikes!

A guy at my work got stung by a bee this past weekend. In less than 5 minutes, he was swelling: hand, arm, face, lips, and throat. His wife called 911 and they got him to the ER on time. Now he carries an Epi-Pen (I do have to remind him).

It's called anaphylactic shock and can be very serious, even fatal. I'm so glad you are better now. Rest and keep us posted when you feel up to it.

And no more medical problem snowballs, okay?

Maxibee - the hives keep returning because Protonic is one of thsoe super drugs that does timed releases intermitently...so until it's all out of my system, expected a day or so)....I'll still get the hives. I've got them now on my upper thighs, and my waist line, and on my back where my bra strap would normally be. Fortunately though, none on my feet, or my hands - whih were the worst. No..my tongue might be the worst - can you imagine trying to scratch your tongue??

Dee, I'm sorry to here that you've had such a rough time with the meds. Your showing lots of strength kiddo. Keep it up. It will all pass someday.
I'm rooting for you.

No, I actually CAN'T imagine that! It must be awful. Things like this always make me remember how complicated and amazing the human body is. How are you now?

Well guys - it's 2:13 am in the morning, and I just got moved into my own personal room at Christus St. Catherine. I couldn't breath, and so David brought me in and the doctor (same one as last night btw) and he didn't want me to go home, they are going to hook me up to a Steroid drip to get the rest of that crap out of my blood system. I've got light hives still...and a headache from a lack of sleep...

I haven't been able to keep anything down...David picked up dinner tonight, and it went totally to waste.

Thanks for checking up on me - I appreciate it!

Guess what - it might not be an allergy to the medicine after all. I might have something called H. Pylori. Some kind of bacteria that shows all these symptoms - and causes all the ongoing stuff as well. I've been stuck so many times at this point, I think they are going to have to find a new vein....my arms/hands HURT!

Tom - I'm going to guess your not a frequent hospital visitor right? I think they take 'rest' off the patients records the minute they put them in a room....vitals every 2 hours (there goes the REM sleep), drugs every 5/6 hours....lol...it's all good though. Nice people - except for one nurse, and she's gone for the day apparently. And hopefully they'll get me out of there late this evening, or possibly tomorrow.

Yeah, not much hospital time for me. When I am, it usually means that I'm in a condition that they have to keep me "flying high" and really don't mind or care about anything at the time.

Just wait until they get serious with the antibiotics and tell you to roll over as they are walking up with a needle that more closely resembles a telephone pole in length and thickness. OUCH!! Don't like those!
More important about getting out of there today or tomorrow is getting the issue resolved. How are things going with that? Hives under control? Able to swallow yet?
Your a mom. So that means you have strength. You can do it!
Take care,Tom.

Is that the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers? Interesting....

Yeah, the hospital is the last place one can get rest. I had emergency surgery a few years ago...my appendix and a large ovarian cyst were having a Tyson/Holifield in my abdomen. The cyst lost....and the appendix was almost down for the count as well.

Afterward, when I FINALLY got to sleep (hard to do for me, on my back), there was always someone in there checking bp, incision site, the pain meds pump, pulse, etc. I was never so glad to leave anywhere in my life. I just wanted to get somewhere horizontal so I could sleep and be LEFT ALONE for more than an hour!

Are they doing some sort of test to find out if there is H. Pylori in your blood? What's going on with the mystery-solving?

I wouldn't wish your plight on my worst enemy! In the meantime, I hope you feel better soon and are able to go HOME, where rest MAY be possible!

Yes - the bacteria that causes Pepcid Ulcers and Stomach Cancer is what I have - not fun at all! THe hives aren't even CLOSE to being under control, and I'm gettng rather aggravated that when I tell them I'm having trouble breathing they ask me if I'm anxious about something. Am I having an anxiety attack??? Hell no? I'm having a problem BREATHING... not an anxiety attack. Hard not to get disgusted when they ask that question when I think I know myself well enough to KNOW I'm not having anxiety attack - my chest feels heavy...constricted...yes I'm a little anxious about THAT...but sheesh - wouldn't you be?

They are giving me benedryl for the hives - when I ask for it...and I'm asking whenever the hives start itching.

My husband is going to bring me some clothes, my own pillow, and a couple more movies. And shampoo and stuff so I can get cleaned up. I need a shower!

And Tom - as a mom - I'm extremely strong...but most moms tend to NOT be as good taking care of themselves as they are as others. A serious flaw in the design I think. It's why we have to have good spouses and close friends to watch out for us when we aren't watching out for ourselves! ;-)

They got me THREE times with the roll over bit last night - the last two times I came in they put in an IV and did both of those shots - this time they did the auto injector in my upper thigh (THAT HURT!) and one shot of steroids in my butt and another of benedryl in the other side. I was not a happy camper. I don't LIKE needles and they keep coming at me from every where with them!!!!

I think I'm going to finish watching the butterfly effect now - I started it last night and wasn't through when i had to leave for the hospital.

I'll catch up with you guys later!

Take care!
Dee
