| Welcome to LCE! As for the Green Tea, that's not something I like either, but I can tell you that if you are trying to do a low carb diet, you definitely need to be avoiding white sugar and - depending on which low-carb plan you're doing - you probably need to be avoiding milk, at least for a short time. Have you been able to read up on any low-carb diets? Do you have one in mind that you are following? That would be a very helpful thing for us to know, so we can really help. |

| People here are very helpful. As Andrea has said low carb means no white sugar. Perhaps you can go to a library or book store to look through some low carb books and read up to get an idea what it is all about. I'm not sure if the Indian libraries carry the low carb books. Thankfully they do here which is how I got started. I imagine that straight green tea there is bitter, perhaps try throwing in a few mint leaves. I buy the mint flavored tea here but mint leaves would surely be better. Hmmm. Maybe I will try that as well. Low carb is a great way of eating for a lifetime. Welcome.

| hello pra. as you may realize, you are on a low-carb support site. if you are interested in losing weight, low carb is a great way to go! some of the folks here do drink green tea as well, in addition to following a low carb lifestyle, but that's not the primary way most of us here are going about losing weight. if you are interested in low carb, the best way to go is a pick a plan and get the book for it. that way, you have the best chances for success. many here follow atkins, but there are several great low-carb plans to choose from. you may want to start reading the articles here and go from there. if you do decide to do low-carb, the folks here can be a wonderful source of suport and information. good luck to you!

| My first question would be, if you are only 6 kg (13 pounds) overweight, why are you trying weight-loss gimmicks at all? (And it does sound like you're trying green tea as a gimmick, not simply an addition to your diet.) I really think this amount of loss can be managed by careful eating (low-carb if that works for you) and exercise. Aderyn |

| Regarding the "color" of sugar, I made the mistake of using a term that is probably localized to the US more or less. Sorry about that. When we say "white sugar" we mean any kind of refined sugar. All sugar-based sweeteners - cane sugar, beet sugar, brown sugar, honey, fructose - even corn syrup - all these are off limits on the first phases of a strict low-carb diet. As for the "details" you ask for, the function of this site is NOT to teach you a diet, or to give you all the details of any one low carb plan. You need to find a plan and do it. For specific details on the Atkins diet go here: http://atkins.com/howto/index.html We're happy to be supportive of whatever low-carb plan you pick. But you need to do the research. Start with the link above. I think it will help. |
