Default Hi!!! Im a Newbie...

Hi everyone I am a newbie to the site but not the diet. I have lost 46 pounds so far and I am learning to relish and enjoy this woe FINALLY after many times of failure I am SUCCEEDING - YES~~! I still have about 150 pounds to go whew~ that just seems like so much! I am just looking for support, encouragement and friendship. It gets so irratating arguing with everyone you know about this diet when I have been so successful (this time)and much more healthy than I was 46 pounds ago. People will not even accept living proof it seems. It wears on you after awhile. But I am happy to find a place of acceptance - where I can share about my life that is awesomely changing and getting better everyday - I now know what it means to say "with God all things are possible" so drop me a line. I am looking forward to sharing with everyone....

hello jamie and welcome! this is a great source of support you've found here and the folks are just the best.

i understand completely what you mean about losing patience with the naysayers when the evidience is right there! after a while, it did go away, at least for me. once you've dropped more than 100 pounds and kept it off, it's kind of hard for people to call that "unhealthy" any more. plus, there are so many misunderstandings and myths about low carb in general and atkins in particular, it's just frustrating!

one little trick i use sometimes when i'm not in the mood is to tell folks i avoid sugar and white flour. nobody can claim that's bad news, and that is the gist of low carb summed up! another thing folks sometimes do is to just say what they are eating: protien, veggies, and so on. no doubt it's healthier than most of their diets! people are just funny sometimes. but i'm glad to hear you are making your own informed decisions and doing well with it.

welcome and good luck. looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome, Jamie!

I've dropped a lot of weight as well and some people still poo-poo low carb. I guess they will never be satisfied. Maybe in twenty years when I am still healthy they will say OK Atkins was right. But I doubt it, some people are always going to be negative.

I do the same as Goddess, someitmes I just say I don't eat sugar when offered junk.

Congrats on your losses so far. 46 pounds is awesome. The rest will come in time. To quote my favorite chessey Tim Allen movie "never give up, never surrender!"

Welcome Jamie and Congratulations on your weightloss so far! You must be so proud of yourself.

I also do what Goddess said when it comes to naysayers....I say I stay away from Sugar and white flour and as much processed food as I can. Which in essence is saying I eat low carb, but people seem to respond better when I don't come right out and use the term "low carb".

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Welcome Jamie. What part of Missouri are you from? There are several on this Board from the greater Kansas City area.

People are just misinformed. Someone proceeded to tell me yesterday about a man who died in their locality who was doing Atkins. I responded that if he was following adkins that meant he had protein w/veggies every day avoiding refined sugar and flour and after 2 weeks prob added berries or nuts and was avoiding caffeine. They then remembered he had a heart condition and that was what he died of. People just wanted to latch on to the idea that because he was lowcarbin it must of killled him.... Humph.
