| The web site says 3g carbs per piece. Their index says almost 10g per piece, though, so I'm not sure which I would believe. That's unfortunate, because I love them, too. I'd be interested if anyone knows for sure. Robin PS. Yep, what I was looking at was the %daily value because I'm a spaz :o They're 28g carbs, thus not on my list, either! | Well, according to McDonald's website, three of the selects (alone; no sauce, nothing else with them) have 28 carbs, 2.5 grams of trans fat, and a whopping 930 grams of sodium. It's your choice, but do you really want to squander all of your daily carbs, plus take in a lot of unhealthy stuff, for three little pieces of chicken? I think that, with time, our tastes change and we naturally prefer more natural, healthy food. That is one of the benefits of LC. Yes, they're tasty, but changing our tastes is one of the ways we make this a lifestyle, and not a life sentence. Just my .02. PS: Both the website and the index say 28 carbs for three selects, unless I'm missing something?

| I'm in full agreement with trina. If I'm going to "cheat" it's NOT going to be at McDonalds. Why not try and develop a recipe of your own for these using something like flax seed meal or almond meal as the coating.

| Chicken Selects - No. The breading is just a lot of bad carbs. On the other hand, if you make something yourself with soy flour or just spices, it's just fine. I make my own bread crumbs out of low carb bread for just this kind of thing On the buffalo wing front however, I have downed a fair number of pre-packaged buffalo chicken wings and ranch dressing to go with it. I think I ate a whole box of them (or more) at the super bowl party I went and still lost 4 pounds that week.

| I, too, love buffalo wings. Be aware, however, that many restaurants bread their wings (the boneless variety almost ALWAYS are) and many put sugar-sweetened barbeque and hot sauces on them. Don't be afraid to ask how they are prepared..you have a right to know!! The best way is to make them at home...if anyone needs to know how, I would be more than glad to tell you.

| I would love to know how to make good boneless buffalo wings! I absolutely love the chicken kickers at Dominos, and they don't make me stall, but they are 3 carbs each! I asked what they put in them, but the workers didn't know, I bet you could make them low carb really easy. Please post or pm me a good recipe :jumpgreen Thank you in advance~

| I have no idea what Domino's taste like, 'cause I have never had them. But for real, genuine Buffalo wings, the recipe is: 2 parts Frank's Hot Sauce (available in grocery stores near the Tabasco) 1 part melted butter Mix together until blended Fry or bake your wings until done, and while still hot, toss in the above sauce. (For a dozen wings I would make about 1/2 cup Frank's to 1/4 cup butter) Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing. That's it. Very simple. There are thousands of different ways to make wings, but for the real, Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY hot wings, that is the technique.

| MMMmmm chicken wings. I made a breading a while back with crushed pork rinds, almond flour, a teensy bit of soy protein isolate, salt, a bit of cayenne, season salt and Atkins bake mix (I order direct from atkins). I mix all the dry ingredients in a ziplock bag. Dab moisture off chicken pieces with paper towel. Then I dredge chicken pieces (wings, breasts, leg, thighs........whatever) in egg and cream mixture and then into the dry stuff. (twice.......very messy proposition) Then I fry it a bit in lite olive oil. Then onto a cookie rack on a cookie sheet they go, pop 'em in the oven and bake for half an hour or so. Watch carefully so breading doesn't burn. After they are cooked you can add LC BBQ sauce or Frank's hot sauce...............DIVINE!!!!! I'd MUCH rather make my own, that way I know what's in it and how many carbs there are. (virtually none) This IS time consuming but well worth it.

| I have to leave a comment here because after all I LIVE IN BUFFALO, NY the "home" of the Buffalo Chicken Wing, orginiated that the Anchor Bar. If you haven't been to Buffalo you haven't had a "real" buffalo chicken wing. They are nearly a staple for me on l/c. Hot, Mediium or Mild. with blue Cheese, ranch dressing, you name it. Like Shelly I have lost weight eating them. psssssssssssssssssssssttttttttttttttt.........you would be stoned in the square if you ate a boneless one here in Buffalo !!! LOL We have an Annual Chicken Wing Fest every year. They come with all kinda sauses, styles and you won't find boneless there. smirk smirk.....Btw: Living here McDonald has nothing the original Low Carb Chicken Wing choice!! Great thread though.....

| PQ...I have, in fact, eaten at the Anchor Bar, and the recipe I gave is the one they use, according to their chef. It's also the one I used in my restaurant. I'm pretty confident that it's authentic.

| Thanks for the recipe Trina...definitely gonna make some of those wings this week. Does the Frank's come in different degrees of "hot"?? I am not a huge fan of burning off my tastebuds. |

| Marie, the answer is YES!!!! The original is pretty mild. Why, I had some just last night on my "buffalo celery". It's not hot at all, just plain YUMMY!!!!!! I LOVE Frank's. And who'd a thunk this former celery hater would have sat and munched celery sticks covered with bleu cheese/cream cheese drenched in hot sauce?????

| I honestly don't get it...I know cutting carbs is good for you, but how can chicken coated with cream and pork rinds that is fried be good for you in any way? If we eat that stuff, aren't we all going to have clogged arteries? That can't be much better than being fat. Not to offend anyone--I am sure the food tastes great. But what I really WANT to know (I'm not asking a rhetorical question) is HOW can a diet like that be healthy? |
