Red face Back Again to L/C

Well here I go again, Lowcarb works for me in the past I hope it will again, I hope that I haven't made myself totally insulin resistant from so much yo yo dieting throughout the years.....I was doing well recently, had dropped 12lbs (this is after dropping 60 last year and then gaining back 80lbs..yikes) then the bottom fell out of my life, and being the compulsive binge stress eater I am, I decided to throw in the towel and have a big ole pity party for one...well tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life (again) and I plan to be active onthe boards seeking support and advice etc. I'll be following a very low carb plan, basically induction forever...or at least until I see some difference, I am at my highest weight ever, even higher then when I was 9 months pregnant...I can't believe I let myself get this far gone....So Hi everyone, I'm here...I'm low carb....bring on the boiled eggs...I love to see the success stories, great work folks.
Kim the CarbKicker
for good.

Welcome Kim! Glad to see you motivated! Funny how those pity parties are almost always for one, isn't it?

thanks for the welcomes! I'm back I'm motivated...yeah those solo pity parties...hmph...done with those ...I'm feeling good today, one meal down (2 boiled eggs with mayo) just being back on plan makes me feel better. I'll have to check out the challenges and see about joining some...my main challenge for myself is to remain cheat free for 2 weeks....doesn't seem like much to some of you that have conquered this carb thing..but I'm thankful every meal that I make it through no carb...they've really got me...

welcome back kim! good to have you with us.

if i may make a suggestion? you mention induction, so i'm thinking you're an atkins chick?

you may want to reconsider your "very low-carb/induction forever" plan...personally, i find that being much more severely restrictive than i need to can be counterproductive on many levels. it can lead to feelings of deprivation, it can sometimes actually slow losses if your carb intake is too low or your body starts to cling to those pounds thinking you're starving it, etc. you're restricting yourself from eating a lot of veggies and fruits that you get to eat as time goes on, which honestly are seldom the problem anyway. and sometimes, holding yourself to a very restrictive standard sets yourself up to feel like you've "failed" if you don't continue to meet it forever...

but mostly, it's depriving you of the most important part of atkins-learning to maintain the losses. almost anybody who's been overweight more than 10 minutes are experts a losing. it's that keeping it off that's the big challenge, and where the real strength of atkin's phases comes in.

if you are following atkins or something like it, be sure you're referring to the book and you may want to try and just follow the plan directly for a while before you start to make modifications. often, that's plenty kickstart as it is without trying to go "no carb" which, regardless of the phase you're in, is not something i recommend anyway.

of course, you'll have to decide what's right for you. but i thought i'd toss some ideas out there.

best of luck to you!
