Thought I just needed tripple or double A batteries, but need somekind of lithium battery, so will get that tonite, but...
drum roll....
if the scale at the gym is correct....
I lost 10 lbs last week... it was a little hard getting back into the groove, but all in all it was pretty easy... I so much like eating LC that when I finally get my head in gear and do everything I need to do to keep on track it is like I should be eating, and don't know why I fall off the wagon...
oh well...
I am excited, it is a good way to start on this path....

Thanks all, I am totally determined to get this weight out of my system....for once and for all....I am taking it one day at a time, just like the AA'ers, and eating on track.... lots of food in the fridge I can eat, so that is great...last weekend I made a Beef Stew, a Sauerkraut/pork stew, eggplant lasagna and turkey meatballs, and some marinated turkey strips....mmmm had some of them last night and they were tasty.

Having re-read Andrea's story, and realized that life is just a series of bumps, jumps, hops and fall downs, if I can get these fall downs out of my way now, then the rest of the year will be a piece of cake....

Funny when you are eating those foods, they taste so good, but at the same time telling yourself... hey, do you really need to eat this....
need... well not really... wanted .... yes.... I really did want to eat those items...am I gonna do it again... probably... hopefully will not let them go out of control like I did....

How about the rest of you.... how is your resolve, and momentum....

Carolyn, the resolve and momentum are still there, it's just that the results are lacking, probably due to continued aging and general decrepitude. It doesn't get any easier as the years pass! But, with age comes wisdom and maturity, and better coping skills to deal with the temptations. I hope.

my personal challenge is "indulging" in stuff that's not good for me when i'm under stress or feeling pressured in other areas of my life. i sometimes joke about "fogetting to buy emotional gratification" at the grocery store when i have my head stuck in the fridge for what i know is emotionally-driven snacking.

when i am doing this, i try to ask myself, "what do i really want right now?" because when i'm being honest with myself, it's usually not what i'm browsing in the fridge. it may be comfort or relaxation or fun or encouragement or any one of a number of things.

now, i won't lie and say this always works for me, or that i never say "*$&%$ it" and just eat the junk, or even that i always ask the question. but i feel better about knowing that at least i'm being honest with myself and trying to acknowledge my real needs instead of kidding myself that the answer is in a cookie jar, man. and i know as long as i'm aware, i have more control over the process and the choice i make today doesn't equate to the choice i may make tomorrow.

Hello Carolyn in Texas, I too have about 100 pounds to lose. I started January 23rd, but then I had a setback because I got carried away with the sf jello and whip cream. I'm new at this and figuring out what I can eat. I also got the ketone strips and it says moderate level of ketosis. I'm amost halfway through with the Atkins book which is the plan I'm following. Everyday is a struggle, not so much as missing foods I choose not to eat now but I worry if I'm doing it right. I also get a little overwhelmed with how much weight I have to lose, it seems like I'm never going to reach my goal. I started at 267, now I'm 255. But I gained a pound this week and I didn't veer off of plan. I don't get it. Any tips would be appreciated.

Tiffany, sometimes our weight goes up, and that can be for various reasons. A pound or 2 isn't a problem, especially if you are staying on plan. Our weight can fluctuate for so many reasons.

A lot of us find that setting small goals is better than looking at the entire goal. 100 lbs seems daunting, but 10 doesn't seem to be too hard. So, make your first goal a 10 lb loss, you'll find it easier to stick to your plan and your determination. When you reach that goal, then look again at where you want to be, and instead of worrying about having to lose 90 lbs, worry about losing another 10.

As you continue, take note of other advantages of following your low carb way of eating. Are you feeling better? Have any health problems lessened or disappeared? Do you just seem healthier overall? Are your clothes getting looser? You'll notice some of these things quickly, especially if you stick closely to your plan.

One last tip: try to eat as natural as you can, real foods. Stay away from the low carb bars (nearly everyone who uses them stalls!), make sure you eat your veggies. Check the Low Carb Cooking forum for recipes and ideas for foods that will add variety to your plan.

And keep coming back. There is a lot of experience here, you'll get great tips, lots of encouragement to keep you motivated. BTW, I encourage you to start a journal. That's where you'll get a lot of visits, and the most encouragement.

Thank you so much Queen Mama, I really needed to hear all of that. I haven't eaten any of the low carb prepared foods as they have more carbs than I want to eat. I'm trying to stay 20 or under. I eat veggies, mostly fresh spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber and a variety of lettuces. I'm not that familiar with alot of veggies because before I didn't eat them a lot. All of the stuff Carolyn said she made sounded so good! I want to learn how to make that stuff. Mostly I eat eggs, sausage, bacon, salad, and a lot of meat, especially turkey patties and ground turkey. I'm trying to wean myself from the sausage and bacon because they have so much salt and nitrates. I'm proud of myself because I stayed on plan when I went to a birthday party yesterday. Inless I ate hidden carbs but I stuck to the veggies, cheese ball, and hamburger patties. That cake was so tempting. But I'm tired of always being the fattest person in the room, people either looking at me in disgust or not seeing me at all, and hating how my body looks. My' son's father left me because I gained so much weight while pregnant and didn't lose it quick enough. My husband treated me bad and all affection disappeared after I gained 80 pounds with our daughter and haven't lost it. It got so bad I seperated from him. Soooo, I really appreciate this forum. Not to mention all the crap I hear when I mention I'm low carbing unless they've tried it and it worked for them. So thank you for all of your support and mine is here as well.

Wow Carolyn, 10 pounds in a week! That's awesome, I hope that happens to me too. Are you exercising? I need to but haven't.

Tiffany, as Dr. Atkins said "exercise is non-negotiable". Every one is different and you must find what works for you. However, I found that when I stopped exercising, though continuing with a l/c WOE, I had a weight creep that resulted in me regaining about 35 pounds in about 2 and 1/2 years. I'm sure that some of that gain was also attributable to my addiction to peanuts. However, as soon as I started exercising regularly again, I started losing again. So for me, regular exercise is a must.
