I do water aerobics three times a week, and water volleyball three times a week, I am going to try to get in something else... I got a jump rope and am going to try to do that everynight after work for a little bit, start out with a minute or two and work up to a good 10-15 min....
I am also going to try to start doing weights.. I keep hearing that weight training really helps lose those calories... and inches... so...

come here often, lots of people here to help you .... it isn't easy, and it will take a while... As Nita said, just do 10 lbs at a time....
and they it won't seem soo huge a challenge...

Glad you are here, keep on keeping on....

Bye the way. The other day I made meatloaf with ground turkey, eggs, and mashed up pork rinds instead of crackers or bread crumbs. It came out really good and held together well. I also poured tomato sauce on top and seasoned it.

I also used crushed pork rinds when I first started. However, I now like to use oat fiber in ground meat dishes to replace bread crumbs. It adds fiber; reduces sodium; and gives the meatloaf a texture like old-fashioned meatloaf.

hi tiffany! the folks here are giving you such good advice, it's hard to add much.

i had to learn more about veggies, too, 'cause I never ate them before. it's funny that people don't seem to think it's not a good idea when we eat a bunch of junk, but sometimes act like low carbing--eating fresh veggies and protien--is somehow dangerous.

learning how to "low carb" your foods and finding new things to make sure helps a lot!

it gets easier as time goes on. keep eating well, drink your water and maybe start moving just a little at a time. one foot in front of the other is how you do this.

i would also have to echo nita's advice that you don't look at it as having 100 pounds to lose. just make small goals, and consider each one a step in the right direction.

i also took faceshots of myself every ten pounds down. that helped me kind of fix the "new me" in my head when i could see differences, because it takes a while for your internal image to catch up with what your body is doing.

and carolyn, you're doing great, too!

keep up the good work, folks!

Thank you so much for the advice and support Goddess. Henry, does oat fiber have carbs and where can I buy it? Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it. I'll take as many as you have! dance2

Tiffany, oat fiber has carbs, but all the carbs are fiber, so it is 0 net carbs. I get mine from Honeyville Grain, along with other l/c supplies. Here is a link the their website Wheat Protein Isolate (WPI) 50LB - 77-203
I have also seen it available from Netrition.com in 1 pound packages.

Tiffany, what do you want to learn how to cook, I will gladly help you with your food/cooking choices...
I love cooking, as does dh, and would love to either pm, or write here ... just let me know what it was that interested you in what I said about food... I love food, and try as best as I can to keep the high carb stuff out of my face....
it is easier to not have it in your house if you can help it... I know my dh is small and can afford to eat those high carb foods, but I can't and he has to realize sometimes, I don't want it in the house.
anyway, let me know and will write recipies for you.

I would really like to know how to make the beef stew, turkey meatballs, and lasagna. It sounds really good. Thank you so much for taking the time out to let me know how. I'm in this weight management program at Kaiser so I have to get weighed every week. I gained 1lb last week and lost 1lb this week. I know I shouldn't trip that much on the scale but from reading the Atkins book it sounds like the average is 3-5 pounds weight loss a week. I can't help but feel like I'm not doing it right or maybe LC WOE is not for my body??? I have been following lc since 1/23/08 with only 9lbs lost. I know I should be exercising more than I am, I did exercise twice this week. I also mostly stay right under 20c carbs a day. Today was my first spurge day because I was frustrated at the scale. I ate a large green salad with bacon, cheese, chicken, eggs, and ranch dressing. Then a low carb onion wrap with turkey breast, cream cheese, and lettuce, than a carb smart ice-cream bar. The wrap and bar both had 5 carbs each. I try not to eat too many low carb products, so far only the wraps and bars. I usually stick with salad and some meat and veggies, some eggs everyday, and I try to drink my water though I always don't make the minimum requirements. Does it sound like I'm following plan? I'm mostly just venting, don't mean to talk your ear off but you guys are my only support. Thanks so much

Here's one to start with...

Beef Stew:

2 lbs beef (I usually use a round but anything that works for you for a stew is ok) cut into chunks
1/2 medium onion chopped
can or two of sliced mushrooms (can use fresh if you like)
2-4 stalks of celery (how many depends on how much you like it.
cauliflower/broccoli/yellow or zuccini squash
(any other veggies you like)
1 can of tomatoes or tomato sauce...(I like the flavor the sauce give the stew)
1 beef boullion cube....

Saute the meat (I usually don't dust with flour, just salt and pepper), add the onion, mushrooms, celery and cook till the onions get translucent... add the cauliflower, broccoli, squash, and any other veggies you want to add... the tomatoes, bullion cube, and about 1 cup or two of water (want the juice to cover the veggies and meat) Bring to a boil, turn heat down to low, and simmer for about an hour (check to see if the meat is tender)
if not cook a little more....

any thing can be added to that stew, if you don't want to use the tomato/sauce... use beef stock, and add a little worschester sauce, and garlic (salt or minced...)

I try to eat what I normally would have before I started LCing, and just cut out those things that don't work on LC, Like potatoes from the stew, instead I use the Cauliflower.....

will add another meal tomorrow...
carolynyou can do it....

Tiffany, don't sweat the one pound up, one down. It happens a lot. You can't expect to lose weight every week. You'll have times when your body has to adjust. I often gain 5 lbs, usually water, and it might take a week or more to get it off. It's the way my body works, I realize that's what it is, so I quit worrying about the scales. If my jeans still button, I'm happy! There are just so many reasons why the scale goes in the wrong direction, even when you are doing everything 100% right. Just be patient. Eventually you'll see it giving you numbers your like. Really!

Thank you so much for the recipe Carolyn and great job on your continued success. Nita, thanks for the encouragement. I got off track yesterday and today, and kicked myself out of ketosis. I'm starting induction again tomorrow. I guess I was just worried that I may be metabolically resistant but what I've escribed sounds normal to ya'll then I 'll just keep at it. I really don't want surgery.
Thanks again ladies, and gentlemen for your support and encouragement.

tiffany, fluxes of up to several pounds in a day are completely NORMAL, and not indications you are metabotically resistant or that your way of eating isn't working for you. hormonal changes, water retention, and a billion and two things all impact rate of loss.

if you find the scale swings are promoting anxiety, lock that sucker up and don't bring it out for a month. focus on eating healthy food and feeling good about yourself, and make sure you're getting the emotional support you need in all areas of your life. one area impacts the other.
