Thanks for the encouragement, I will do just that. I'm not going to weigh myself for one month. Oh, 2 weeks. I have a physical on the 14th. I went off of LC for the past 3 days and started induction again today. I can really see how the carbs work in my body. I felt like an addict, always worried about what I was going to eat next even while I was eating, I could never get enough, I felt the need to always munch on something, I had no control whatsoever. Only getting full for a little while, irritable and decreased energy. I can totally see the difference and I never want to eat that way again. Sure I'll miss some things but I have to find an alternative way to enjoy them LC. It's especially important for me to stick with LC WOE as my sugar is 96, only 3 points away from abnormal and my mom and grandma were diabetic. I do wonder if the elevated glucose levels were due to me going off of Atkins for the past 3 days as they just checked it today. I wish I knew what it was before. I will check it again in a few weeks to see if it's gone down after being back on lc, I'm sure it will be lower. I'm determined to do this lc woe for the rest of my life. I know I can't give in to my addiction of carbs, it's a downward spiral.
Carolyn, how are you coming along?

many people report similar experiences. one of the things about blood sugar spikes is that when they come down, you end up being hungry again, and the cravings are definitely tied to insulin stuff for me. carbs = cravings!

there's a real good possibility of that...

if it's of any consolation, it does get easier as time goes on...also, eating offplan or too much sweet stuff will start cravings for me....hang in there and let us know how the doctor's visit goes!

I know that carb addiction thing all to well, have spent since January 1st trying to keep those pesky carbs at bay, well I am a week at 20 carbs or less....it is getting easier everyday....I guess a slow start is better then no start.

skinny I am hanging in there.. had a week and a half of eating too much of everything, trying to refocus, refocus, refocus....
I almost blew it all away, but am keeping on track... working the plan one meal at a time, not guilting too much, but learning why I ate that .... instead of being satisfied with lc food....
keep on keeping on....

not a darned thing wrong with a slow start! the only start that won't help is one you don't do.

that's the way to go, carolyn! guilt doesn't help, but educating yourself about how it works for you does. you can't fail as long as you stay in the game, man.

I'm glad to hear your not letting a few times eating off plandetour all you've accomplished so far. I know how hard it is to get back on track. You are my inspiration, your doing so well. I haven't been to see the doctor but my lab results are in, my cholesterol is lower!!! Hooray!! dance2It was 183, down from 206, even my tryglycerides are down at a 92. However I do need to raise my HDL so I need to exercise more and of course lose weight, imagine that? Thanks Goddess for your feedback, it's appreciated. I've been back on plan for 4 days now and the Ketostix are starting to show low levels of Ketones again, whew.

I like the idea of a miracle pill......if you believe the FDA, it's Alli, and I wouldn't touch that with a 100 foot pole!

I'm finding it frustrating to be cheat-free and still not lose, just sit at the same weight for weeks on end. That's when it would be nice to wake up skinny, just melt during the night. However, it begs the question, where does all that fat go overnight, if you DID wake up skinny?! LOL!

HELP!! I was recently prescribed the generic medicine for Glucophage called Metformin-500mg. I told him I was eating low carb and he said that was good as my cholesterol went down. However, when I got home I was reading all the fine print and it said do not take this medication if you have "high blood ketone or acid levels (such as ketoacidosis). I know ketosis and diabetic acidosis are not the same but is it close enough to cause me problems using this medicine? I'm not diabetic, this was prescribed to me to treat Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and I'm to monitor my sugar as the medicine may cause my blood to drop too low. I need help with this please????

Tiffany, here's a site that might help:

Metformin Information from Drugs.com

It doesn't sound as though you have any of those problems, you don't have kidney disease, or congestive heart failure (I hope!), so you probably won't have issues with metformin.

Let us know how it works for your PCOS.

Thank you, I'll look it up right now. I'm just concerned that my blood sugar may become too low as I 'm not eating any sugar and mostly staying around 20 carbs a day.

tiffany- as long as you're consulting with your doc and he knows you're low carbing, then i wouldn't be concerned. i do think it's a great idea to be reading the fine print, of course!

i found this brief post that explained it very nicely - Ketone Question

and a little more clarification here - Ketone Question

you might do a search on the forums here for p.o.s. as well. i seem to recall lots of lc'ers saying that low carbing was helpful for them in dealing with that paticular conditon.
