Lisa, how wonderful! Small, managable changes and you're already getting a great benefit from them. I'm also betting you're feeling better and more energetic, too. That's great!

On the goals, I always focused on 10-pound marks myself..new "decades," because that seemed like a managable amount to me. If you go one pound at a time, then the up/down normal scale fluxes bother you more...ten pounds is doable and kept me from fixating too much on the idea of losing a hundred pounds. that just sounds impossible, you know? bit if you stay focused on the small area where you're at right now, the rest takes care of itself.

I also took faceshots and measurements each ten pounds and tracked them. and over time, it really helped me when i'd start to feel low...going back and seeing the progress you've made in concrete terms can encouarge you when the scale is being stubborn or you're under extra stress or whatever. it helped ground me somewhat whenever i felt like i could use a little more perspective.

Thanks on the congrats Goddess and Carolyn. That sounds like a good idea 10 lbs at at time sounds doable. Yes I do have more energy and the carb cravings are gone I feel like I am now not just aimlessly searching for my next food fix and am in control where I plan what food I am gonna put in my mouth not just stuff it with the next thing at hand or whatever someone offers me. I have the will power to say no and it feels great. thanks for listening.

with open eyes, I made it thru the weekend...
friday night went out with some friends celebrating anothers departure to another part of the country on her way to try to become a big tv producer/editor/director/ who knows, but she it heading to NYCity... so we had wings, instead of the fries I got a side salad, and instead of beer or sugurydrinks I had a couple of shots of tequela... my drug of choice which I dont have very often any more... it was a nice change of pace for me... dh stayed home and had left overs...
saturday we had our Reading Rainbow Award ceremony for k-3 grades.. it was fun... I was in charge of snacks... cheese, crackers, fruit and veggies... I had one cracker.. (would have liked more but after it went into my mouth blindly, I realized, and stopped)... dinner saturday night was a rib eye and some veggies.
(had a big salad at salad bar in the after noon.)
sunday...made a big pot of kolbasa and cabbage for later in the week, and made a chicken tetrizine for dinner...lots of veggies - broccoli, carrots, onions, celery, mushrooms, chicken, parmagiana cheese and a little bit of pasta...
today egg salad for breakfast, and left over gumbo for lunch - no rice.....
there were a few indiscretions this weekend in my eating, but I am not afraid of them... I just ate on track the next meal/and kept up with what I was eating...

carolyn-catching that mindless eating is a skill! if you noticed it at 1 cracker, you did great! and how cool you brought some good snacks for the kids, too. that sounds like it was a lot of fun.

    onward and downward, indeed!

I have been dodging bullets this week homemade cookies and an ice cream social at work so I feel pretty good progress is being made I think that work is out to get me though if I don't stay on track and go with the right frame of mind. It's harder this week I have the stress of possibly having to lose my medications because of medicare part D donut hole. I am looking into other options right now so at present all hope isn't lost. Just wish me luck there. I exercised whiched helped out a lot on the stress level and probably my butt too.

Workplaces can be a carb minefield sometimes, Lisa! Over time, I think they'll figure out what you do and don't eat, and maybe it will get easier.

Good luck with your meds. I'm sure you'll get it all figured out, although the time period when you're working on figuring it out can be no fun. Kudos to you for selecting a positive, helpful activity to channel your worry-energy...

Mind if I join in with you guys? I don't have quite 100 lbs to lose (although the charts would say I should lose more than my GW says), but I really don't know how I will feel when I reach that goal so it might end up being 100 lbs.

I have read lots of your posts and wow what an inspirational group.

Welcome Melissa . Thanks for the encouragement Goddess . I have been helped out of my med situation by my ARNP and the medical assistance with samples and patience assistance program help so all is looking brighter. I have been managing to win my parents over to accepting my eating choices they actually changed from cooking lasagna on Memorial day to London Broil and salad for me since I was coming. I know strange choice for Memorial day but they had gone to a BBQ on Sunday and didn't want it again on Monday. I was happy pasta dish out meat in. My sister not so. Well I survived the holiday weekend with no damage done. So I will keep on at it.

    Lisa,

Sounds like you are doing well on this woe! Nice to hear about the London Broil for Memorial Day! Isn't nice when your needs are taken into account?!
