Hi everyone well I am a newbie to this forum, but not to low carb. I have been doing Atkins now since June 2,2003. I love it!!! but I need some words of support. Since being on Atkins I have lost about 30 lbs. I had been dieting on low calorie from Jan 1 and had lost 39 lbs in 6 months. For a total so far of 67 lbs. But lately I just feel burn out. I do not have the zeal I once had. I find myself hungry all the time, and yet I am still following the plan. I am so burn out on eggs and meat.

I am not much of a cook so I do not like making new foods, or cooking much. Also I find myself eating more and more and more.

Please someone help me get my zeal back for this program. I am afraid if I do not find some hope that I will fall of the wagon and do something crazy like "CHEAT" I know that I am addicted to carbs and just one bite will just do me in. So I know that I can not do this, but I need some help anyone out there willing to help? LOL

first of all congrat. to you for losing 67 lbs, what an accomplishment. Second, go to superwalmart and buy some of those low carb bowls, and put in your freezer - one they will help out when you don't know what to eat, and will give you an alternative to eating bad foods. You didn't say how much you still need to lose, could be you are getting close to your goal and you need to readjust your eating... there are many out there in this forum that could help you out with that. Maybe you need a short break, eat a few of the carbs you are missing and see how you feel, I know when I am feeling like I can't eat another egg, or salad, I eat a little of the carbs I have been passing on and remember how good not eating them feels.
hope some of this helps

yo cyberdoll .... i am down 97 pounds since january 6, 2003 and have 78 pounds to go to get to my bottom line goal .... just wanna tell ya congratulations on your loss! now doesn't that sound weird being congratulating someone on their loss .... well you have come a long weigh baby ... so depending on where you are at in your program .... my suggestion is to go back to the Book of Atkins and look at the alternative eats for induction ... or on-going weight loss .... i personally give myself one meal a week of increased carbs .... generally a breakfast on the weekend ... and i talk to others who are in the same tub with me ... to help me through the ruff spots .... so hang in there baby .... it is Atkins for life!

I just want you to stay encouraged, put your eyes on the prize. I have been checking out these low cal recipes on this site and they look easy. I have been bored before too and I hardly lost anything unlike your fantastic success, but I am back on target. Today for lunch I had some salad greens, ceasar dressing and a salmon fillet that I purchased all from Aldi, I spread it out on a glass pie plate(at work) it looked delicious and it tasted delicious. I also tried a recipe for cheesecake that was very good. You can do it!

Cyberdoll - sounds like you're well on your way! Congratulations. One thing I would suggest is to approach this as a way of life rather than a diet. Any time I've been on a diet, I set myself up for failure. But since I've been low carbing and I look at it as a life style change, I haven't had any problem sticking with it. Keep up the good work. We are always here to give your a lift and encouragement when you need it. We all do once in a while.

GNC and Health food stores....I know these things are alittle expensive but so worth it to help with cravings and the same old Blah! Ive tried
Cheesecake YUMM!
Bread VERY GOOD
Pizza Shell Not to bad to help with a craving
candy bars VERY GOOD
Cookies Pretty darn good
the only 2 things I havent really liked were the Pasta?? it has an odd consistancy mabye I didnt cook it enough??
and the Chips...the have great flavor and super crunch then all the sudden ewwie they are gross when you chew em?? so if you can Not chew em much they are ok...LOL Oh and all of this stuff is LOW carb..... Oh wait I almost forgot....I got Pancake mix and Syrup...Not to bad either? Syrup is an Atkins brand and it has good flavor, but it is kinda watery...the pancakes have a good flavor but a tiny dry or something?? all in all worth the time....
Oh well Just my 2 cents since I have started this crazy ride....
Good Luck....Your doing GREAT!

I make "fake" pancakes that aren't bad. I will post the recipe here and on the recipe section:
Beat together the following:
2 eggs
2 TB ricotta cheese
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 pgk Splenda
dash cinnamon
on Medium heat, Fry in butter, turn when top is bubbly, slide out on a plate and cover with SF syrup.
It doesn't taste like just eggs -- it satisfies my longing for a pancake some mornings.

Congrats on your loss. Wow I would kill to have lost 69lbs, I have been losing very very very slowly but know that this is a WOE for me forever not just until I lose all the weight I need to lose.
So that being said, go web surfing and try some great LC sugar free sauces that are available on any number of sites. They are a bit expensive but worth it to ward off boredom. I have tried the Alfredo sauce from Walden Farms. Real easy pour over raw chicken breasts (or other pieces) put a pat of butter on the top and bake. Yum. Also a great source of sauces and jams etc is Steel's. They have a blueberry jam that is to die for. Also a a blueberry syrup for pancakes. I think I have died and gone to LC heaven.
Also agree with the person who said check the receipe section here. There is some terrific stuff that isn't hard to make and really helps keeping this WOE new.
Good luck!

Thank you all so much for responding to me so quickly. I am down from 329 where I started in Jan to 262. But the thing is for the past month I have lost and gained the same 5 lbs.

I don't know I guess I am just tird as I said of the same thing day after day. I am still on induction. It has been almost 5 months. I have alot of weight to lose. No where close to my goal. I know that I have finally found a way to eat that works for me, and that it must be a way of life for me. I have had many people tell me I should cheat, go off for a few days and eat carbs that I miss. But see I know how my body acts and I do not want to go back to that again. All of the craving and suffering from the carbs. I have not had any sugar or caf since I started the program. I have not cheated not once with the wrong foods. But I know I am eating to much of even the right foods lately and now I am just tird of meat and eggs.

I tried the bars but like most people with addictions I can't stop at just one. I want to eat them all at once. I decided to let my dd hide them and only give me one a day. LOL

I tried the ice-cream (low carb) but it seems to make me crave food even more, as do the bars as well, so it makes me think I should just stay away from them.

In the beginning I was so happy and doing so well why am I hungry, I am doing nothing differently than before. Maybe eating more meat and eggs than before but as far as carbs NO
I guess I just need to get with the program.
I do not drink my water as I should (BAD BAD) I know I hate water. I do not exercise as I should ( I know I need to but I am just)

AM TIRD AND NEED TO GET MY BUTT IN GEAR lol

If you've been on induction since January, your body is now holding on to every little thing you put into it. You depesperately NEED to increase your carbs. Because it's been so long, you may initially gain a couple pounds, but you WILL start losing again.

You're also right in stating that you NEED to increase your water to at least 131oz. per day, and that you need to start exercizing.

Good luck.

cyberdoll,

May I suggest that you also sound BORED? When you focus daily on what to eat and food, it can become such a big part of your day, thoughts, and time. I'd like to suggest that you find something enjoyable to stimulate your mind, maybe something creative or active, or a favorite pasttime? This way something will occupy your mind besides food. When you do get hungry, go eat what you need to eat and get back to whatever it was you were enjoying.

This WOE doesn't have to be a chore. I've simply resolved myself to eating this way PERIOD. There is no "diet", diets have ends to them. This is just simply the way I eat.

That said, I hate to cook too, and my family tends to want things I don't eat. So, I have started cooking on one day.. I cook up chicken and pork chops, throw a turkey in to cook for the day.. and boil eggs. This way I have something prepared for the week, just make a plate, add a salad and eat. (reminds me of munching on Thanksgiving left overs all week lol)
I also find that the wafer sandwich meats that come in individual packs are great as "grab & go" snacks. The whole pack is 1 serving and 1 carb. Toss it on a plate with some cheese, olives, and a boiled egg.. there's munchies for a late movie

Please hang in there, you've came a long way to get discouraged. Reverting to carbs will put the weight back on, and will do so rather quickly. Don't do that to yourself Celebrate your success and seek out new 'easy' foods to eat, and find somethin to do that makes ya happy Good Luck !

Just Believe.

Thanks for the info. I have not been doing the Atkins but since June, I was counting calories from Jan - June then decided to give Atkins a try when I was beside myself with hunger and just wanted to give up with counting the calories.

yes I am bored stiff. Right now I am sitting here after eating about 2 hours ago ready to eat again. The thing is I am not really that hungry I just want to eat. You know the mind thing that goes on from time to time. God I have not had this for so long. Why does it have to come back??? For over 5 months now I have been so in control of the food choices and the food cravings. But it is like all of a sudden something came over me and I am back to cravings again. What is the problem?? I don't have a clue.

Now I am not going to give up. When I started this new way of eating (life) I decided I was going to stick with it this time. I am going to do this. I just need some suggestions on easy meals to fix, and some support until I pull myself out of this slump I am facing.
Below is what I ate today.

Breakfast
2 fried eggs
3 bacons
half can diet rite

Lunch
tuna with egg and mayo about 4 oz total
half diet rite

Dinner

boneless chicken breast Large (cooked small amount of oil with mushrooms about 4 small mushrooms)
6 green olives
4 halves devil eggs (mixed with mayo)
1 oz cheese
turnip greens 1 cup
1 pat butter
1 diet rite

Exercise: bike ride about 15 minutes

Now I will also eat a low carb bar in a few minutes. According to the lable it says only 2 carbs. But as I have said I have my ???? about the bars.

I know it will get better. I am just glad that I found this forum to help me pull out of this and get some support and ideas. Maybe some new friendships will help

You do not need to be still on induction. That will force your body into an almost starvation mode. You are bored. Add more variety. Add salads. You can add a salad with your lunch and with your dinner. Perhaps throw a few veggies in with an omlette in the morning. ADD VEGGIES. That is a good way for you to get your carbs up. We can be scared to do so at first but only good will come of it.

As for the bars, it affects people differently. Obviously for you it triggers cravings and makes you want to eat the whole box. Maybe you should lay off the bars for awhile and see how that goes. It has only "2" carbs so it says but that is not counting the sugar alcohols etc that can stall some people.

COME OFF INDUCTION and start eating more legal LC foods. Good luck, you have done so well, congratulations. Check out the recipe section that you can find in the top right hand of the webpage. It has a lot of meal ideas! I don't like to cook either but you kind of have to sometimes. Do the cooking ahead idea so only one day out of the week you have to slave in the kitchen. Good luck
