    Hi everyone,

I'm Astra...I'm just now starting to get control over a situation that's been lasting TOO long. In all honesty, I don't know what I weigh. About 7 months ago I was 331, but have not weighed since then. Other than my Doc's office, do any of you know where I can weigh in every 14 days on a regular basis?

My biggest problem right now is exercise, I have a grip on my eating, but I Could definitely use some fine tuning. I'm nailing down low cal, low carb snack foods that I can carry with me. Any ideas? Plus, where would I go to find an online exercise buddy to help keep me in check?

I'm so excited to be here. I'd love to meet you all! Do introduce yourselves!

    toodles, astra

Hi Astra.....good Luck to you....Welcome to the board! lots of great people and great information and stories to always help get over the bumps and keep motivated...
Where are you from??? Is your Doctors office far for you to go every 2 weeks to weigh in?? You should be able to do that without having to pay anything?? thats what they should be there for you to do??
Oh well good luck to you!!
    Hugs, Lisa

    welcome astra!
In my local mall there is a health facility called BestHealth. It's non profit and they have seminars and information and bonuses for mall walkers. It's mostly retirees but that didn't stop me from joining so i could pop in for some free coffee and a weigh in and blood pressure. Maybe there is something like this in your area? Try calling the local hospital. also the public library often has brochures from groups like TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) and OA (overeaters anonymous). These groups might have a scale they use for meetings. OA might be the one to look for since they support any weight loss program. Where do you live?

    Hi Astra

I just wanted to pop in and say that you shouldn't worry about calories at this point. You can worry about them when you start to approach your goal weight. The best way to success doing low carb is to make sure you eat fulfilling meals and snacks with enough fat and protein to fill you up so that you don't have room for the carby ones that everyone obsesses about. If you get hungry, eat. Just make sure it is low carb food with some fat and protein and a small amount of carb if it has carbs. Pork rinds and cheese dip were my friend when I started this journey. And of course, if you can get rid of the carby foods that only you eat, that helps. I gave away all of my pasta, rice, potatoes, and any boxed and canned foods that had any of those in them because I was the only one eating them.

    Good luck
    Joyce
