I read someone, I think Rob, say that spinach is $6 a lb! I wanted to let you know that if you have Aldi stores in your area they sell 8oz pkgs of fresh spinach for $2 or less!
Just thought I'd letcha know

The only problem with the Aldi spinach, is that it is a bit stem-y (is that right? stemmy maybe)
Anyway it isn't the baby spinach but the full grown leafy kind. Great for cooking if you have the time to prep it and cut all the stems off.

I used to be indecisive...But now I'm not so sure!
I buy my spinach in the can.
$.39 per can at Save A Lot foor stores.
I love it cooked with butter, and sometimes a piece of crumbled bacon with it.
Also, when I sometimes splurge and buy TGIF's spinach and avacado dip in the freezer section of the grocery store, I always add a can of spinach to make it go a long way.
YUM!

Most of the time I buy canned too...much cheaper. Although, up in Houston, I did find a great fresh food mart that sells it at a great price...the problem is the cost of the gas to go the 40 miles to get to it.....so I will stick with canned for the most part

I really like those frozen bricks of spinach. They're cheap (.50-.59) and are easy to use. I defrost in microwave, squeeze all the water out and saute with a little onion, garlic, butter, salt and pepper. YUMMM! Add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese for a different flavor.

I'm buying loose spinach right now for about $1.69 a pound at two of my local groceries. We use it for just about anything you'd use lettuce for. My husband's favorite is to take thawed, cooked shrimp and sautee it in oil and vinegar dressing with a few shakes of lemon pepper till it all gets good and hot and the dressing cooks down a bit. Then I pour it hot over spinach, black olives, chopped boiled eggs, grated cheese and green onions. The hot dressing wilts the spinach a bit and it's just a really nice, fast meal. My husband never liked shrimp at all till I started making this. It's been a while since I figured up the carbs, I just know that it's a pretty low carb meal for induction and beyond.
