My ears are frozen, my fingers are cold and so are my toes--but the ice is off the car until the next wave of freezing rain due in the next few hours. IT took over half an hour and I feel better. I needed that exercise and fresh air.

Glad you're happy! I can't get my car up the hill outside my house because of the snow and ice. Stuck indoors for 2 days now. going stir crazy.

Me, a skeptic? I trust you have proof.
I am sorry to hear that you guys are back in that freezing weather... we had it a couple of weeks back but nothing like the east. Now it is back to normal raining... I just love Seattle
Keep warm
Michelle
I had to get out of the house this afternoon. We now have a total coating of ice on the windows we cleared earlier but it will be much easier chopping another 1/4 inch off instead of a half inch. I will go outside tomorrow and slide around with my daughter, she has been dying for me to come out and play with her. WE are out of school again tomorrow so no reason to go to bed early. I salted the walk tonight too--that way we can get the ice off in the morning--maybe. My cat didn't like the slippery stuff. Silly thing.
Played out in the snow for about 40 minutes on Sunday evening. Wanted to yesterday but it was SO icy. I want so much to start walking. What does everyone do during this kind of weather?
Renee

I moved to Miami!!
It's going to be 77 or so today, I love it!!
Warm weather doesn't always equal exercise motivation though! I'm still struggling to make walking a daily routine! Ah well...

Well other than move to Miami, we suck it up. Complaining everyday how we hate it here and should pack up and move to some wonderful place that never get colder then 60 degrees! Then before you know it...Spring and you forget all about it until next year!

28 years ago I moved to central Texas to get away from the cold of New Jersey's winters, I have not regreted it and when I read about the -20 degrees, and the ice and shoveling the snow, I know I made the right decision.
Sunday it was a sunny 70 degrees, today it was 32, it changes daily, it is never cold for more than a week or two,and usually just a day or two, and in 28 years I have not seen snow for more than a day or two about 4 times (never enough to shovel - just wait for the sun to melt it off).
I LOL reading your comments about why did my ancestors move here - you can move from there any time you want.....
stay warm, if you want to visit the warmer climates, I have a spare bedroom

I'm finding this winter to be worse, not only because of the weather, but because I have 30lbs less of insulation to keep me warm. What a difference from last winter.

Hey Emily -- glad to hear that there is someone else dealing with -20 temps. The windchill tomorrow morning is supposed to be -50.
I know why my ancestors moved here -- they were Norwegian and it reminded them of home!
I will say, however, that the ice storms in the east and south seem much worse than the cold we get. It's too cold here for us to get that thick coating of ice that makes it impossible to walk or drive anywhere. I hope all of you facing that get some relief soon.
Emily and I will be looking forward to temps above 0.

Don't worry Emily, it's only supposed to get colder here in SD! My car almost didn't start this morning. That was kind of how I felt about myself. Really hard to get motivated when it's 53 in your apartment! Oh well...live another day! Maybe the statement "Freeze my @ss off" really will work seometime with it being this cold! One can only wish!

Law and Lynda Lou, My ancestors, coming from Scandanavia, also settled in Minyasoda and N. Dakota. (said with a scandahoovian accent) You would think we Northern-blooded folks would be used to the deep freeze. Uffdah!!! I'm not this winter!!! Ya you betcha!!!
My dad was from Minneapolis, my mom is from Excelsior, I was born in Wayzatta, my two sis's were born in Mankato and (oh I can't remember where the other one was born) We had a family home (5 generations) up near Lake Mille Lacs.
