Hi all. I am having an odd problem. When I am working out I get dizzy and nauseous. I am working out with ten pound weights and the last couple of times I got really sick. Is it possible that I am not taking in enough carbs? My understanding after reading the Atkins book is that since my carbs are very low my body will use fat for energy. I am on OWL I make sure to have no less than 20 and no more than 35 carbs per day. Do I need to increase? My husband is afraid that I am going to hurt myself with the weights if I continue to get dizzy. Any advise?

I am determined.

Sandra, it could be that you're dehydrated. Remember that this WOL requires a lot of water to clear toxins and to hydrate. Especially when you're working out, be sure to drink lots and lots of water! Certainly, if you continue to get dizzy, stop the exercise and maybe, if you haven't already, you should get a physical exam by your doc. But you really do sound like you need to drink more water.

WATER--WATER--and MORE WATER--that is usually the source of dizzyness during exercise--if it continues and you are drinking about 6-8 oz per 15 minutes of workout then see a doctor. 20-35 should be a safe number to work out pretty heavily on. . .but it could be a lot of things.

Thanks for that. I haven't been drinking enough water now that I think of it and that never crossed my mind. Thanks. I shall get started with the water right aways.

I am determined.

I totally agree with everyone's posts on this topic. As an athlete or just someone working out to stay in shape, it's all about getting hydrated. Alot of people tend to only drink lots of water while they are working out. The key is to drink water before, during and after. The amount of water that needs to be ingested depends on your body, your level or activity and how much water you are drinking throughout the day as part of your WL plan. Honeslty... drink more water... and I think you'll see a huge difference!

Are you drinking enough water? this is the main reason people get sick while working out. also, watch your heart rate, if you are pushing to hard your bloodpressure could increase and cause dizzyness. In any case if it continues you should probably check with your dotor.

Good luck all!!
