This forum provides support so that I don't feel I am alone on this journey.

This woe empowers me to choose what I want to eat instead of being at the mercy of the Bad Carb God. I no longer serve that master.

I am peaceful because I like myself. I am finally succeeding in an area that has plagued me for 33 years.

Knowing that in life there are many things I have no control over; however I CAN control what I choose to put in my mouth.

I love the measurable improvements. I helped a friend move to an upstairs apt and had no trouble w/strength or breathlessness.

planning, planning, and more planning. If I don't plan my meals and leave myself open to eat whatever, I get into "I can eat a little of this or a little of that". But when I plan... then I am focused, and my willpower is strong. I can say no I don't want that, I don't need that. I plan breakfast lunch and dinner to make sure that I eat properly.

For me it is the fact that I can go into a "normal" store and buy clothes off the rack. I have not been able to do that in 10 years.

This is a wonderful thread!

I look at my 18 month old son. I want to be healthy, so I can be with him as long as possible. Also, so I can do everything he wants to do as he grows. I want him to be proud to call me his mom.

Good luck all!!

The increased energy level since starting this WOE keeps me motivated. I'll never be a slug bug again.

Alice I like the idea of the little album with before, during and after photos. That is a great reminder of how far we are progressing.

Cool stuff in the posts. Great ideas and suggestions and I appreciate all the motivation I receive from you folks.

REWARDS! REWARDS! REWARDS!~ If you haven't checked around the board, or if you just missed some of the past posts... rewards for milestones are a great way to keep yourself on track. When you set goals and rewards... make sure they are something you really want...
...for me... United States Marine Corps boot camp is my ultimate reward for losing weight. I know that it's a bit strange that more hard work is the reward for the hard work of keeping my eating on track, but trust me... to me, it is an appropriate and motivating reward.

**I also have to say that every time someone says "have you lost weight?" it makes me feel rewarded for eating right and exercising... when other people notice, that means you are doing something right! My dad and my boyfriend notice faster than everyone else because I swim laps at the pool with my dad(aka bathing suit involved) and my boyfriend... well just use your imagination on that one.. HEY! nothing dirty people@! HA HA HA!

Hi everyone!
This is a great thread!

What keeps me going:

My Dear Spouse calling me "bones" and pointing out all the places I am "going down"

increased energy

got into a size 20 this weekend for the first time in about 15 years!

never hungry

no obsessing about my next meal

having people ask me if I've lost weight

my poor arthritic knees are finally getting a break!

I could go on but these are some of the things that, when I am discouraged or tempted, make me say no and help me realize that this is a way of life, not a diet or a temporary stop gap.

Thanks for the idea, Sharron!

I agree that this is a great thread! Here's some thigns that keep me motivated:

My husband - always encouraging me to do my best and telling me how beautiful I am plus he is my workout partner as well...

Going into a store and trying on size 3 dresses, and some of them being able to fit me! Glory! Glory!

People at work calling me skinny mini and my church family telling me how great I am looking.

And the trip to AZ at the end of May is really motivation...I'd like to be able to wear a halter top while I'm down there...there's an ultimate goal! I look all right in one down but could stand to tone my tummy a little more.

HI EVERYONE, FOR ME IT'S THE INCREDIBLE ENERGY AND JUST OVERALL WELL BEING I FEEL. WITH EVERY MEAL I EAT I KNOW THAT I AM EATING TO LIVE. I MEAN REALLY REALLY LIVE, AND THAT ENJOYMENT IS MUCH MORE SATISFYING THAN STUFFING MY FACE WITH THE FOODS THAT WILL ONLY GIVE ME TEMPORARY SATISFACTION.

WHEN I STARTED THIS WOE MY PRIMARY REASON WAS TO LOSE WEIGHT, BUT NOW THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH THE COMPLETE SATISFACTION THAT I FEEL EACH DAY I AWAKE. I JUST FEEL GREAT YALL.
