Hello everyone...I could use some input from others. I started Atkins 1/06/04 and have since lost 20 lbs. My problem is this I have only lost one of those 20 lbs since Valentines Day. I've been staying away from LC candy and such...eating clean , drinking 120-150 0z of water a day. In the last week I have cut out putting cheese on my food with the exception of eating cream cheese. I go to Curves 4 days a week. I've been doing 30 min workouts with Richard Simmons tapes for the last 2 weeks 4-5 days a week and I try to ride my stationary bike a few times a week. I am on the Depo Provera birth control shot. I have been trying to limit my salt intake. My calories tend to be a little high 1800-2200. My % according to Fitday are usually 65-70% fat, 25-30% protein and about 5% carbs. I've been trying to keep my carbs no higher then 30. Any suggestions? I'm getting a little discouraged because I'm nowhere close to goal...I started Curves May 27,2003 and lost 30lbs up until starting Atkins in Jan. and that was without really dieting. I'm down 53 lbs since May 27th,2003 which is great but I'd love to see that scale move again! Thanks alot for any input you can give me. Have a great day.

Michele, don't get discouraged. Twenty pounds is a lot of weight. I think two things are happening. You are exercising quite a bit, which is awesome, and you're building muscle mass. There will be a brief time that your weight may increase due to your increased muscle. As muscle displaces fat, it will burn more calories and in effect, cause your weight loss to resume. In the meantime, be p-a-t-i-e-n-t. Your program is excellent, you're making great improvements from head to toe. Keep doing what you're doing and you're sure to reap the rewards.

Ditto what Kumus said. How much cream cheese are you eating?

With the amount of exercise you are doing it would be a great idea to up your carbs to 40-50. I had a stall and I was exercising every day, swimming 3miles a week and doing water aerobics 4x a week, Kate the trainer say at 30-50 carbs a week I wasn't eating enough carbs.... so I have been trying for 50-65 and lost 7 lbs within the first two weeks.
so.... I would suggest upping those carbs, eat more fruit.... I get in a banana every day, maybe 1/2 apple, some berries, some days I have lc tortilla with eggs for breakfast, some days I have a LC piece of bread... go to the streets website and she has an example of her eating. She actually told me I needed closer to 100, but I think that is too much for me right now.
keep us posted

Hey... try kicking the cream cheese out of your diet....
...in my experience... it kicks me right out of ketosis... don't know why, but my body doesn't like it...and since I only was using it for rollups with ham it was no big deal for me to cut it out!

if you aren't into completely giving up cream cheese..might I suggest making it a "treat" for yourself once a week...(especially if this is the thing that's stalling you).

Take a few days without eating it...don't change anything else ya know... then if you kick the stall.. then you'll know what it is. Gotta love the tell-tale signs that this WOE gives off!

I noticed that you mentioned you were on the Depo shot. One of the many reasons I stopped the shot and went back to my previous BC was because of the weight I gained and could not get rid of after starting this form of BC. I only lasted 9 months on Depo.

Michelle
I agree with Megan. Cream cheese does the same thing to me. In any week I bought a bar of cream cheese my loss was nada or maybe .5 pound.
Cut ti out for a full week and then introduce it as Megan says once a week. Treats taste best when you have to wait for them anyway.
