| and it kind of freaks me out a little i guess. not that i'm gonna stop because of it. get real! but i just wondered more about how it works, who gets it, how much weight it takes, are there ways to minimize it, etc... after i read about it here, i took a good look at my tummy and the areas that i was thinking, oh, well, i just need to lose more weight there...well, it looks like some of that is baggy skin. eek! it haven't even registered. i probably should NOT have looked at that oprah link... anyway, that's just on my mind. i guess i'll have to read up about it and if the time comes and i feel the need, then i guess i'll look into surgury. or live with it. while it's kind of freaky to me, i s'pose it's nothing compared to the weight, 'eh? sigh. just what i need: something else to worry about.

| When I first lost weight, in 1987, it took me two years to loose to 143. I think it was due to the slow loosing that I didn't have to deal with loose skin. After I changed jobs though I gained weight and gained even more during my pregnancy. So now I'm back to loosing it.

| paladin- thanks for the pointer to the other thread, and yes, it was helpful. the article about weight work, in particular, gives me something specific i can work on to minimize the issue. i already take vitamins, etc...although i may look at ones specifically for skin toning and see if those make any difference...

| This is one of my major concerns since I have such a large amount of weight to lose. I've lost about 50lbs since January......maybe more since I don't weigh, I don't know for sure. I know everything is headed south in a serious way already. I find myself feeling discouraged even tho I'm wearing 2 sizes smaller, things just don't look nice with all my saggy baggy skin. I really don't want to have to have surgery for skin removal but at this rate I won't have much other choice. My sister lost over 100lbs and even tho she looks wonderful she has serious skin issues as well. Underneath those size 6 clothes is a body of an 80 yr old woman. I have many miles to go before I ever see a size 6 but my goodness, I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the lack of tone I have. Sorry to be negative just feeling out of sorts today. Renee |

| hey renee...there was a link in the other thread that paladin pointed me to...it says that working with weights is the way to deal with the skin issue. i don't know for sure exactly what it will and won't do, but i figure hey, what do i have to lose (except another 58 pounds)? i got my daughter to show me around her weight bench, and i already have some hand weights from my walking tape workouts. i also have started moisturizing the flabbier areas and plan to get some of those vitamin supplements for skin tone they have, and maybe some vit. e oil, too. i figure i'll approach it like the weight loss: from every angle i can think of! and once i'm done, if the skin is an issue, i'll deal with it then. but if i work on it in the meantime, maybe it will be less of an issue. i know i'm not going to quit losing over it! and i am losing at a moderate pace (just over 2 pounds week average), so it's not too fast... i dunno. i mean, yes, i worry about things, but i am lookign for something specific i can do. otherwise, it's just makign you feel bad and that's the last thing we need! hang in there, and i hope tomorrows better!!

| Hi Goddess! I too have read about the skin deal. I read somewhere on this board that it's easier to tuck in flab than to hide all the fat. I'm going to hold onto that thought and like you - I still have more to go. I love this WOE and feel to good to let maybes stop me. You are doing great! Keep up the good work.
