Question My mother said that she gets hungry on the LC diet, but was in keytosis. Any ideas?

I talked to my mother yesterday. She had been on the Atkins LC diet, but went off. She was doing very well on it before hand. She wasn't waking up still like before either. I mentioned to her that maybe she should go back on it. I told her you're not hungry on it while in keytosis plus she felt so much better, but she mentioned she always was hungry even though she was loosing and in keytosis too.

She always ate till she was satisfied, but not sure why she would still be hungry. Any clues? Basically, I'm shocked as I don't get hungry on it.

Could be lots of reasons why your mother could have still been in ketosis, but still hungry.
One mistake lots of people make -- especially after having the low-fat diet mentality pounded into our heads for so many years -- is not having adequate amounts of fat daily. When I'm eating 50%-65% fat in my daily food values is when I feel my best...and have an easier time losing.
Another thing that I know makes me hungry, or maybe more accurately
'crave-y', is when I'm not eating clean. Meaning whole, natural foods, with little to no store-bought lc processed stuff, like bread, ice creams, bars, tortillas, etc. When I am eating clean, I really have to schedule my eating and snacking, because I can easily go 8 hours without eating and not notice.
Lastly, if I'm substituting 'other' drinks for the amount of water I'm supposed to have, it makes me hungry. I have to have 3-4 liters of water per day to feel right.

    Tara,

It could be that she was indeed eating too low fat because she complained on not going to the bathroom regularly anymore. Me, I find that the fat doesn't bother me, it's when I don't have enough fat that I have problems.
