Any hints or tips I should know?
We leave next week for Va. Beach and everyone keeps asking if I plan on sticking to my diet (WOE).
I DO indeed plan on sticking to it, maybe not as rigidly as at home, but I plan on a no-sugar, low carb holiday

Renee - With all that wonderful very fresh seafood available you won't miss anything else! You might want to bring your favorite low carb treats just as a buffer between you and bingeing. Be sure and ask your Hotel/motel clerks for recommendations.

Renee, Rob is so right about the plentiful fresh seafoods available. Staying on plan wont be hard to do at all. There's lots of carb friendly eatery's in the area.

I know most people recommend avoiding the bars, and that is generally good advice. Traveling though is one of the times where I break this rule. During long trips, I usually bring some morning start or peanut butter Advantage bars to prevent me from eating anything worse, if there is nothing available. I always keep them for emergencies.

Otherwise, I would agree completely with everyone here. If you can get to a restaurant and eat a good low carb meal, by all means do that instead.

LC is easy when you are vacationing if you want it to be--along the coast various seafood places will be a great place to start! Take some of your own sweet treats but defintiely eat the fresh catch of the day! Have steamed veggies instead of hush puppies and breads and potatos and you have it made!!! Salads are wonderful with seafood on them too!

Thanks all. I haven't had an alcoholic beverage since I started this WOE in January. We are attending a wedding while in Va. Beach and it has an open bar so I may have one, no more than two just for the heck of it. I know I will prolly get tipsy superquick!
Thanks for all the good ideas and those drinks will be my only "cheats" while I am away.
Speaking of drinks, which ones would be lowest in carbs? I figured the nonsweet ones but what does that leave? LOL

Hugs

Here's a couple of drinks that are low in carbs...

Any light liquor and diet cola (I like Vanilla Stoli and Diet Coke)
Any light liquor and club soda (vodka sodas are good)
LC beer or even a light beer like Miller Lite
And wine is also relatively low in carbs...usually about 3 grams per glass

It's easy to have a few LC drinks, as long as you don't go overboard.

Enjoy your vacay!
