    Default I didn't cave!

I am doing some in home health care for a family friend. It is her grandparents. Well in addition to my nursing duties, I do a little light housework and some cooking. They are not on any kind of diet so they can eat all the stuff I can't. I have been craving everything so bad! Any suggestions? I haven't caved in and ate anything yet but making them baked beans (a personal fav of mine) and fried potatoes, etc. is really making me hungry! LOL They eat ice cream sandwiches, cookies, toast, ya know...every single thing we can't have. Tonight they want lasagna and garlic bread. I work 2nd shift so I get to do all this stuff. I really need to make myself a snack bag to take before I totally screw up! Help me

I would definitely recommend that you bring a snack of your favorite LC foods and eat and ENJOY those while they eat their lasagna and other higher carb foods. It will help you get through! Just keep reminding yourself why you are not eating those foods...I know you have great motivation, and I know you can do it!

And remember...it's not that you CAN'T have those things. You are a free person, you CAN have anything! However, you WON'T have those things. You CHOOSE not to. You choose your health...and it is a great choice to make!

Ditto what Mary said. I do much better when my mindset is "I choose" not "I can't". Also, eating before or bringing your own food is a great idea. Can you make them a great LC meal? They might not even miss the carbs and it would bgive you a night off from tempation!

Yes I could occasionally make them a LC meal so I could join them but usually they ask that I make a certain dish I will survive! And thanks for the CHOOSE NOT instead of CAN'T have option. I try to take a gallon of water with me and today I am stopping to pick up a few foods to take along for myself, pork rinds, cheese, fresh veggies and dip, etc.
