Default Back on track, day 2, no sugar, ready to drop another 50 lbs

I went on vacation memorial day and had a hard time getting back on track with my food. Each week, I said this is the week, each week, i found something to eat I shouldn't. I am almost at my 1 year anniversary of LCing, and have had a fairly easy time losing the first 50.

So yesterday, without realizing it I made it thru without any sugar foods, lc breads, etc...., today, I am also working on no sugar, lc breads, and eating "clean". Since i work out a lot, I am trying to keep my carb count under 50/day (more closely to 40 if I can) and working on getting in my water (oh that always seems like a chore). I did gain 8 lbs on vacation, lost 5, and am still 3lbs over the 50 mark.... I am not as worried about that as my reaction to eating sugar.... it was heavenly, wonderfully good, and I wanted to keep eating it over and over again.....However, I know that eating it will only have me gaining back the 50 lbs I have lost and probably more.

So, I am writing down my food on fit day, continuing with my 3miles of swimming and 3 days of water aerobics each week, maybe will start a journal, but we will see about that one, and trying to get in my gallon + water every day.

For those having trouble getting back on track, remember the AA words "its just one day at a time". Not sure who suggested doing induction for 4 days, then 4 more, etc.... But that struck a cord with me, and I am just working on one day at a time to get back on track.... It is less intimadating than looking at the next few months/year/s. Tomorrow I will worry about tomorrow, but today I can make the right choices.

And thanks to having this website to read, talk, question, write, ask, and praise .... tks to the webmaster...

Onward thru the fog to eating clean

Welcome back Carolyn!! I've been in the same boat myself lately, and your right, one day, sometiomes one meal at a time. I'm 36 hours "clean" and looking forward to adding days and weeks to that tally!

Carolyn,

Thanks for your encouraging post. I'm in that same boat - 20 months and 54 pounds into Low Carb but I need to get back to the basics and lose the remaining 30-35 pounds. I give myself the pep talk every morning but manage to fall off the wagon (or at least drag one foot !) almost every day. I just need to focus. Maybe the one day at a time strategy will work for me. Good luck!

Good luck

Kimjmj and Ladybug, maybe the three of us need to form a challenge club, one day at a time club....
I'm game if you are

Thumbs up Re: Back on track, day 2, no sugar, ready to drop another 50 lbs

Carolyn,
Count me in, too! I, too, am trying to lose pounds (6) I gained
on vacation!! Your idea of following the "one day at a time"
mindset is great! Long term challenges have not yet worked
for me so maybe this will (though I did join a relatively short
four week challenge). I'll post my progress on this thread, too...
but daily (not weight, but just keeping focused on this WOE).

Ya know..i get very overwhelmed with doubt when i view the menu i eat from compared to that of the kids or husband or anyone else that is not doing the low carb wol. So when i wake in the morning and still want sugar in my coffee rather than splenda...i sip at it and ponder breakfast and grow a bit discouraged....hmmm either have the left over chicken or eggs....the scales of libra certainly work overboard
anyway...i take it one meal at a time..for me..that is the only way through it...and what also helps is realising how i am never hungry...my appetite is gone for the most part because of my limited menu....and so i put off eating until i am real hungry
when on a low fat diet i always thought of my next meal and ate early just because thinking about it made me want it then and there...
with low carb....i think..buffalo wings for lunch..and can wait it out until lunch...a snack on cheese helps curb any hunger pangs before scheduled meals

one meal at a time

Carolyn,

Count me in also! Should we start a new thread "One Day at a Time Challenge" to match our goal?

I did really well from lunch on yesterday and so far today has been okay. I don't have any lc peanut butter at work to tempt me and I tried to bring more choices to work to choose from for lunch. I know we can do this!

I don't plan on weighing myself a whole lot - I can tell how I'm doing by 1) my appetite and 2) how my jeans fit. If I weigh myself often I get discouraged and that just encourages poor food choices on my part. I'm going to get out the lc recipes and try to add variety to my diet also.

Good luck to everyone! We CAN do this.

Ok, I will start a challenge in the appropriate forum, it will be called One Day at a time....We can just support each other, let each other know how we are doing, and where we are having a problem and maybe help each other stay on track, and pick each other up when we falter. see you at the challenge forum.
