| Well, I didn't have the spinach omelet....but I had a nectarine after breakfast, then a green salad with dinner, and a slice of cantaloupe, 4 strawberries, and 8 cherries for dessert. Yummers. I believe that's 5! Anyone else tuned in today? I hope you are all having a wonderful, healthful, safe holiday!

| Well, having a great holiday, but so so on food. yesterday, had cherries, strawberries, and peppers. The peppers were grilled with a few onions, and mushrooms - so I'm sure I got my servings. Today, strawberries at breakfast, and cauliflower for lunch. Maybe have a necterine for snack - we'll see.

| Going fine with the fruits and veggies here. Strawberries coming into season well now. Been doing well with mushrooms too - my Community Aid Abroad vegetarian cookbook has lots of good recipes for them and calls them 'the vegetarians meat'. Got a nice big eggplant to barbeque and then scoop out for baba ganoush too - must get round to that today or tomorrow. Been buying heaps of good salad chards and vietnamese salad leaves lately - much better buys than lettuce for me. Red and yellow cherry tomatoes are good too now. Even the fresh and new varieties of pineapple are still available from locals. Now got an excellent farmers market in town and lots of organic growers there - great stuff! Other fridge goodies are cauli, broccolini, zucs, cucs, shallots, carrots, pumpkin, celery and peppers. I negotiate the calories/carbs etc by only have partial servings that make a whole over the course of the day. I was surprised when a guest commented the other day -'hadn't realised you guys were vegetarians' well - we're not - but its getting so that its the major part of our diet - but we still get our meat, chicken and fish too. |

| Just got back from a long weekend in Boston. I was able to have my 5 a day with no trouble until today. All I could think about as I was driving home from the airport was I only had 1 serving of cantaloupe for breakfast and no veggies for lunch (low-carb whopper at the airport). The flight was late and I had to get some groceries before the stores closed, so I decided to stop at Hometown Buffet for a quick dinner. I was surprised. To go along with the steak, I had grilled zucchini and summer squash, green beans, sauteed mushrooms, and sauteed onions. So I made my 5 today afterall. |

| WTG, hdyhouse! I've been MIA for a couple of days. We've used up most of the f's & v's in the house. I will finally get around to making that cauli salad tomorrow. Not good today, but I was better yesterday. I'll get back on track tomorrow. My regularity/digestion depends on it. Sorry if that's TMI!

| Have settled into a f&v shopping routine now. Am looking for some good mushroom recipes. Also getting some (what seems to be) salad chards - but what I think are actually Vietamese veggies. Anyway - they beat lettuce hands down for lasting capacity! Also some delicious large, very strong, cresses - also seem to be Asian veggies. Going down very well with other salad materials. Enochi mushies are nicely substituting for noodles too. Amazing how far a little creative thinking takes one eh! Also served a rather nice paw paw salsa with fish the other night - although don't usually serve fruits with a meal - a bit too much fructose for my liking - but still, it was a nice warmed salsa with paw paw, mint, coriander, mixed through with teaspoon lowfat coconut milk (but could use ordinary cream)and low sugar/sodium Thai chili sauce (I rarely use bottled sauces/condiments) and nuked - served over fish and served with mixed dish of broc, yellow squash and zucs as special dinner for DS - it was delicious! Have also been having mixed vegs serves tossed through 1 tablespoon per person of organic couscous, tiny serve raisins and pinenuts - favourite is raw grated zucs, carrot tossed through o/c with teaspoon butter - nuked in winter for warmth - very good eating indeed! |

| I decided to make the faux potato salad today. I used cauliflower, celery, onion, sliced bamboo shoot tips, roasted red pepper, and hard boiled eggs. Seasoned it with pepper, mayo, mustard, and splenda sweetened pickle relish. It was great with some lettuce wraped ham and cheese for lunch. Now I will see how well it holds up for lunch during the week. Breakfast was Maggie's cereal w/dried cranberries. Dinner was grilled pork, eggplant parmesean, and a lettuce salad w/cucumber, green onion, grape tomatoes, and stuffed olives. |

| The last 2 days have been quite hit or miss! My m-i-l went home today so things are slowly getting back to normal around here. I've got quite a grocery list ready to go for tomorrow. Our new "challenge": Focusing on the Journey, begins Monday. I want to be prepared to enjoy this WOL, and part of that means having my 5-a-day so I feel great!
