Good for you kat! I'm nearing the 1 month mark with low carbing and so far have lost only 3 pounds, but I *feel* thinner. You're right about the energy, I have so much more. Overall my moods have improved as well. I don't feel as cranky and things don't upset/make me angry the way they used to. Goddess is right on about the seeming lost of mental and emotional weight. Good luck kat, sounds like you are certainly on the right track! ![]() Margaret

What a nice dinner! You did great! I love low carb, because it's flexible. Having the occasional glass of wine makes it a pleasant way of eating.

Thanks Margaret-and don't think 3# is nothing-how much would you have GAINED in that month if you weren't low carbing it? And, as you know, the burst of energy is wonderful. Best of luck to you. Nita-it was a great dinner-I sat with (thin) friends stuffing their kissers with homemade bread and gnocchi and cannoli's and realized that I didn't feel deprived. I have choices that I can make that still feel special and festive and which don't leave me bloated and foggy. A great lesson to learn.

Good for you! Because it really isn't a diet, is it? It's a lifestyle change for sure.

It's now 6 weeks in and I've lost another 4 pounds for a total of 20 pounds. I feel great. I'm doing this so differently from the last time I was on Atkins that it's like night and day. I was so rigid last time and kept to induction and 20 or below carbs for the entire 9 months I was following the plan. (Lost @75 pounds) I'm eating @25-28 carbs/day now and eating things like Maggie's muffins and a glass of wine now and again which I never would have touched the last time. And ooooo, I'm enjoying this so much more! My energy level is wonderful and I'll be adding another 10 minutes to my 5x/week morning walk this Monday. Thanks for all the great recipes that everyone has posted-I'm enjoying trying them all out.

I'm 8 weeks in now and have lost another 2 pounds for a total of 22 pounds in 8 weeks. My weight loss slowed down a bit the last 2 weeks-lost @ 1 pound each week. I didn't walk at all the last week as I got an infected blister on my left foot and had to go shoeless for a few days. And-I had a rough 4 or 5 day stretch which I now realize was hormone induced. I didn't do anything too weird and wonderful, just an extra slice of cheese here and another serving of meat there-I felt hungry and had my face stuck in the refrigerator way too often. I'm happy with the smaller weight loss and I'm feeling less hormonally challenged now.I think I'm going to stay at 25-28 carbs/day for a while longer and see how that turns out. And I went on a 25 minute walk this morning without too much pain-so Yay! Life is good.

Katalina - considering the obstacles you faced the past 2 weeks I think a pound a week is very good!

Rob-I was thrilled with losing the 2 pounds as I was sure there would be no weight loss this time. babybluejay-I'm so glad my boo-boo healed alright-my blood sugar is not the best and I've had trouble before with cuts and scrapes not healing for a looong time. I was very lucky. ![]()

This is my 10th week on Atkins and in the last 2 weeks I lost 6 more pounds for a total of 28 pounds. I had a 1 pound loss the 9th week and then a 5 pound loss this week. And I could feel it-I knew that I lost a lot this week and I'm not sure why. Didn't do anything different-I'm staying at @28 carbs/day and still walking 5-6 x's a week. Our bodies are so funny. I remember the last time I was on Atkins and went 8 weeks without losing a pound and then, bam!, I lost 7 pounds in one week. I guess you have to roll with the punches and accept the ups and downs with grace. (Easier to do with the ups! )

Kat-That is EXACTLY right, from my experience. I think so many years of the "burn more calories than you take in" concept leads us to expect it to be a very straightforward process, but it seldom seems to be so direct. And yet another reminder to not live and die by the scale's daily proclamation. Congrats on your visit from the "Whoosh Fairy!"
