Default One month in...

Hey all-Just completed my first month back on Atkins. Have lost 16 pounds-7# the 1st week, 3# the 2nd, 2# the 3rd, and 4# the 4th. By the third week I felt so energized I added a 5th day to my weekly walking regiman and went from 30min to 40min-probably why I lost 4 pounds this last week.

I'm now eating @22-25 grams of carbs a day. Added peanut butter to my menu but most days I've just added an extra serving of vegetables. I want to thank everyone who posted those great recipes onsite-I've tried a few and look forward to trying some of the others-it helps keep me from getting bored with the food plan.

I'm feeling lighter both physically and mentally.

Thanks for sharing, Kat! I love hearing about people's progress. And it sounds like you're right on track, too.

I think it's so interesting how many people note that they feel lighter mentally as well as physically when they're staying on track, too. It's like you're losing emotional weight at the same time as the other kind. Pretty darned cool, if you ask me.

You go, Girl!

Thanks guys-just the first steps in this long journey but it is a good start. And I do seem to be losing some of the "brain fog" that has been part of my life the past few years. Yay!

Thanks everyone. I'm off to an Italian restaurant tonight with friends-have been mentally preparing myself to deal with the wonderful smell of cooked pasta. Pulled up the menu and think I'll be just fine. Wish me luck.

Hi-Did really well last night. Had a waiter who grew up in the same general area that my Dad did in Italy and he was thrilled that I could speak his Italian dialect fluently. He took very good care of me-made sure the veal wasn't dredged in flour and was cooked with olive oil, butter, and lemon. No sugar in the asparagus. I did have a glass of good wine-but, hey, I'm human. And it tasted great. Had expresso for desert.

I was glad to learn that I could have a fun evening in a restaurant without stuffing bread and other carbs in my mouth. I enjoyed the company and the meal. (And also, Stephano, the waiter-ooooo-wish I was 20 years younger-he was a hotie!)

What a wonderful evening it sounds like you had! Sounds like you had a blast, and got to experience the VIP treatment as well. Wow. Sounds like a perfect night out!

And it's also cool to see how you're working it in to your lifestyle, too. You can go out to an Italian restuarant, for goodness sakes! And you managed to have fun with your friends, and even enjoy a glass of wine and still feel good about your choices!

That's very impressive!

Nothing wrong with a glass of wine! Fits in okay on low carb once you get beyond induction. I think a 5 ounce glass of red wine has around 3 carbs. white wine even less. Glad your meal out was such a success!

Well Rob, then the occasional glass of wine is back on my menu. Thanks for the @ carb counts.

I'm beginning to understand why I messed up the last time on Atkins-I was waaaay too rigid. Wouldn't dine out unless it was a steak house. Life is to be enjoyed.
