Thumbs down Well it had to happen;

Well it had to happen sooner or later. yesterday I gave into the uncontrollable urge of not one but two Jelly Donuts. In one respect it was delicious or it should have been, but oddly enough it was way to sweet and I used to live for those things. Well it did get my carbohydrate craving back into gear, but I cut way back on the carbs today, hopefully that will help with the cravings. It was definitely not as enjoyable as i thought. Judy

Good for you for working through this. Woo hoo!!! I think it's fantastic that your tastes have changed. When I eat junk food my tongue gets sore from junk now. I may never learn but I never give up!

judy-in the "old days," it probably would have been way more than two, and from it, you can't take it wasn't really worth it 'cause it doesn't even taste so good anymore anywho, so overall, you can work with it, eh?

the cravings, for me at least, usually subside in a day or two...

good for you for taking the long-term view...

But at least you made it back on plan. That is positive and you should be proud of yourself. In the old days i think i would have downed at lest a half dozen. So only eating two was an improvement. Tonight i cheated and took an L Glutamine. I had read somewhere that it is supposed to take away your craving for carbs I think it worked because i ate a regular low carb dinner tonight and am fine. I'm glad i am not weighing myself every day or the water gain would get discouraging. I don't think i am going tp crave donuts anymore they just don't taste the same.

Those carby foods just aren't like we remember them, are they? Keep in mind that eating carbs puts us in a brain fog, so we probably thought those doughnuts were terrific, when in reality, they were only so-so.

Glad your "binge" was a mini one, and you're back on the wagon again.

Looked up on fitday.com that a jelly doughnut has 221 calories and 25g carb. so you could definitely have done far worse. My downfall used to be bagels and a bagel binge was usually 6 (or however many i bought). That's 1500 calories and 270 carb grams. Ouch. You did well to jump right back on plan! L-glut is not a cheat. It's a tool.

That is what i read somewhere i cannot remember which book. It works i was able to get past my carb craving after my binge. Six bagels would have been worse for me anyway, i love bagels so i could see where i could eat six.

Rob's right, it is important when we have a slip to remember -
we are only human
and
we USED to eat far far worse!

Glad you're back on track!!

Momuvfour, I made the coconut bread recipe that's on this site (QueenMama's recipe). I substituted the equal of 1 cup sweetener for the fiberfit and got a nice dessert type bread. Last evening my husband was having SERIOUS carb cravings (he works on a ship and has his meals there and so has little control over his choices). He had a slice of that bread with a sliced strawberry and a little whipped cream and that satisfied his craving completely. I find having something around the kitchen like that has been a life saver for us. We used to be huge muffin and bagel consumers too....you know, buying into the complex carb/low fat thing . Good luck and it's great you are back on track!
