Hi Everyone! So glad I found this forum that's dedicated to those of us returning on the wagon I was a lowcarber for a while several years ago, lost 30 pounds, felt great, and finally felt some control of the compulsive/binge eating that has haunted me since my teens. But I didn't have a solid maintenance plan in mind and added to that, when I went off of lowcarbing, I decided to become a vegetarian and then try to go vegan (i.e., no meat, dairy, or eggs). I couldn't see how to make lowcarb work as a vegan, so I added back a lot of grains and beans (all whole foods, though) and fruit and that, added to some stress situations and instability I was having last year (moved twice, started a doctoral program and figured out I didn't want to go that route but teach instead) got me back into the binge cycle and I gained back 20 of the 30 pounds. So I think I finally "got it" and know that lowcarbing is the only plan that will tame my food addiction. I've been back lowcarbing since March , but this time as a vegetarian and am loving it so far. I find I do better on my own plan rather than someone else's (like Atkins) and am at about 60-70 carbs, most of that from veggies with some "carbier" foods like yogurt and Fiber One. But I'm feeling all the benefits of the lowcarb wagon (energy, calm mood, clear headedness, no cravings). I'm losing weight slowly but that doesn't bother me, as my number one goal in going back to lowcarbing was to get out of the binge cycles and the food addictions and lowcarbing has definitely achieved that. If there are any other vegetarians around this board, I'd love to hear from you! Tam

| Great for you, Tam! You've definitely chosen a more difficult path, but it seems to be working for you! Nice to meet you. ![]()

Welcome, Tammy! I don't know that we have a lot of vegitarians here, because it is more challenging to do low carb that way, as you know, but it also sounds like you've found your "groove," too! That's great. We had a vegitarian low carber forum not too long ago, but i took it down because we got so few posters there. We're getting more new folks in here, so it's possible if you don't have much veggitarian company yet, you might after a while anyway. i also always love to hear about people finding their groove and working how they eat into their lives. you go! ![]() ![]()

Welcome, Tam! I hope you have some good vegetarian recipes to share. We're always looking for recipes here, and we're willing to try anything that will fit in with our low carb lifestyle, even if we aren't vegetarian. Hope you have lots of success following your plan.

Hi Tam, I'm new to this site. I did low carb a few years ago and lost about 50 pounds. Then I started eating "healthy" and gained back most of the weight. I have been back on Atkins for a couple of months and have lost about 15 pounds but I have been feeling guilty about eating all that meat. I have been considering giving it up! I would be interested in hearing what you eat. Cindy
