Uaspin- We all do go through the same things on this journey. It definitely helps me that I have all my salad fixings at work. I try to keep some things at work for snacks too, like string cheese, celery sticks, and peanuts. Working out has helped me too. When I see the bad food it makes me think of how hard I worked out and how I don't want to throw all that hard work out the door. Sometimes easier said than done, lol! And as always running to this site and reading posts always helps.
As for me I am down to 228! I was at 227 before last weekend when I ruined it. I knew I did not really gain 3lbs of fat in 3days, that was crazy! Back on track tho. Been good on my eating this week and don't plan to screw it up this weekend!

you go, amber! just ignore those cravings. (i get 'em anytime i eat too many carbs for the next few days myself.) they'll disappear in a bit.

upaspin, glad to know the site is helpful to you. for what it's worth, the longer you do it, the easier it gets.

one trick i used early on when it was harder for me to pass by stuff is to make sure that everything the house was either carb-friendly, or if it was for someone else, i'd go out of my way to get a flavor or type of whatever food that was the least appealing to me and thus easier for me to pass by which helped. i also got single servings of the "evil stuff" for the kids instead of the big boxes. i'd feel guilty if i were stealing their stuff, so it was easier to ignore it!

When you pack your lunch, upaspin, try to poke in a little snack and eat it early, if you don't have time for breakfast. Or make something at night that you can munch before you leave for work. You'll really do better the rest of the day.

Weekends are hard for me, too. Sometimes I get so busy and just get too tired to think about cooking, and end up snacking way too much. One day we'll get a grip and have a really good, low carb weekend!

Kick a**, Amber!!! That is great! I had Vodka the other nite....just vodka. A couple of shot...eek...that was insane...
I taped myself and feel kinda bad about it still... -1 inch/Bust; - 1/2 inch/waist;-1/2 inch /Hips;
- 1 inch/upper arms; + 3/4 inch/Thighs; +1/2 inch/Calves; and -2 inches/Lower thighs.
Grrr....I have yet to weigh myself, I think I am going to go buy batteries for my scale. I have e neat one that gives you a breakdown of fat, muscle, water percentages and where you should be and what not. I hope that helps me. I suppose I am impatient. I have been slowing down on the exercising...I have been having headaches and feel kind of shaky and ill. Blah!
Hope all is well with everyone!!!!! Great job Amber!!!!

Butterfly Re: I'm back

Congrats, Amber! That's wonderful! Following your plan pays off, doesn't it!?
I'm so happy for you! You go, girl!

Alice, may I suggest you stop bolding only the plus measurements when most of your measurements are minus?! LOL...you had 5 go down and two go up, and notice what you focus on, girl? Not a good idea. Focus on the 5 down, for Goodness sakes, unless you prefer to be depressed for no good reason!

If you feel crappy and you don't have an illness, you're probably not eating enough. Lemme guess: since you stopped exercising an hour and a half a day, you cut down your carbs to about 5/day, maybe? Am I warm yet?

LC does NOT work like a regular diet. It's NOT calories in/calories out when you low carb. Carbs have just 4 calories each, so the difference between 20 grams of carbs a day and 0 is 80 calories, hon. That's squat, so basically all you're doing is making sure you don't get the vitamins and nutrients you'd get in veggies. (Supps help, but they can't make up for all deficits.) It's actually eating a limited amount of the right kind of carbs that allow you to get your insulin under control that switches your body from burning the glucose to the fat. That's what we're shooting for.

Make a deal with ya: you follow an established LC plan EXACTLY AS WRITTEN (no shaving carbs below the suggested level) with moderate activity levels (like 30 minutes, 3x a week, for example) for two weeks, I'd lay money that you'll feel better and your progress measurements will show improvement.

And if I'm misinterpreting, please excuse me. From what you've said up to this point, it appears that the Obsessive monster is one you battle from time to time, and it's making it WAY harder than it needs to be. If you feel crummy, you're probably not doing it right.

Peace out.

Alice I think you are doing great. Try not to be so hard on yourself. I drank some rum and diet coke saturday night. A little too much, Sunday my head was not happy! LOL

Thanks Goddess! Your so rad!

I got on the scale this morning and I am down to 223.5! Yay, another pound and half! Now that is motivation. Saturday morning I am going to take measurements too.
