Default New Knees- Time for a new Tom

I've been slowly drifting away from LC for a period of time. I recently had both my knees replaced. Now it is time for me to get back to the lifestyle that was best for me. Low-Carb! I felt the best and was in my best condition only a few years ago. I WILL return the that happy, fit person I once was.
I restarted Induction this weekend. I'm looking forward to the long life ahead of me.

Good to see you back Tom. Are you still rehabing the knees? My sister had both of hers replaced in January and she is still struggling a little.

Oh yes, I have quite the journey until I'm up to full snuff. I was able to ride my motorcycle to the store the other day. For me it is a matter of stretching out all the ligaments and tendons to fit my new knees. I find that sitting for long periods causes them to stiffen up. I no longer have any pain in the center from the bone/bone contact. There is no bone there. rofl.
I have been pretty active this last weekend. Lot's of standing. That took some toll on me. My best wishes to your sister for her recovery.

Tom, it's good to see you, and to hear that your recovery is going nicely.

Tom, your experience is similar to my sister's and I will tell you what I told her, based on my experience with knee ligaments and tendons following my auto accident a number of years ago. I had to work-out paying attention to those tendons at least 4 times a week for years. Ten years after, the tendons would still stiffen-up if a sat in a meeting and it would take me a few steps to get them loose so I could walk without limping. After 15 years of those continued work-outs, I finally reached the point where I could sit for an hour and begin walking without limping. On the plus side, I have great quads from all that exercising.

Tom, welcome back! It's great to see you.

If you need a success story, my Dad is one. Other than the initial recovery period, including PT, his double knee replacement has been a complete success and he's more active now that he has been in years.

Thanks all. I'm retraining myself to recognize LC eating again. It was very interesting how fast all that knowledge got flushed. Must be part of my aging. lol

It's been a year and a half since my replacements. My overall activity level is lower. Been Lazy.
However, I can now ride my dirt bike all day for several days and the legs feel great.
If anybody is on the fence about replacing your knees...
Just Do It!
Actually, I understand. It's a very personal thing. It took the right chain of events to finally push me over the edge.

So it sounds like you are pretty happy with the knee replacements. I am one of those on the fence about it as I am not a person who follows along with the medical community. But when it comes to this......I would like to be able to get back to my physical level of before my knees got so bad. Thanks for mentioning this.
