| I was so content with how I looked, felt and the way my clothes fit that I lost sight as to why I had gotten here in the first place. Lost sight of this WOE that I had discovered and had changed my life for the better. Physically, Emotionally and Mentally. 2 years later, it's all back. I am right back where I started. For about 3 months now, i've struggled to get back on this WOE. What's wrong with me? Why can't I re-focus? I'm ok for a day or two and then suddenly i'm lost...finding myself having that piece of cake I shouldn't have. Using excuse after excuse to start this WOE/Exercise plan tomorrow. Tomorrow turns into the next day, then the next day and so on. The second time is really really really difficult. So if you were a success like I was the first time. Don't ever lose sight of how/why you got there. Stay focused! Continue this WOE. Because it's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Once you veer off, it's difficult to come back. Now, i'm just trying to get back to where I was...and I can't |

| Just take this one day at a time - don't look back at what you did in the past, just focus on today, and perhaps tomorrow, that you'll stick to your plan for just these 2 days, then tomorrow, refocus and do the same thing. Sure, you'll stray from time to time - we all do - but soon you'll find that this has become a habit, a way of life, and before you know it you'll be seeing success, whether you gauge that success on how many pounds you've lost, or how many inches, or what clothes you can get back into, or that you are just that much healthier. Now that you are a bit older, a bit more mature, than you were last go-round, you might find that once you get started, you'll have better staying power, too. Wish you success!

| Hi, I came back to this WOE on Sept 11, '08, have lost 8 lbs. so far....Yeaaaaaaaaa! I am almost 65 expected the weight loss to go at a snail's pace so needless to say I am pleasantly surprised at the loss.(Went on a beach vacation trip during this time as well) I have known all along since the first "go 'round" that lc is the right plan for me. My doc encourages lc eating, which helps. Like you I started and stopped many many times and wondered "what is wrong with me?". So this time...I picked up the Atkins book and just started reading for motivation without jumping into the plan right away, that is what helped to get me back on track. Also found this website which has been a great motivator. I purchased a couple of the supplements Dr. Atkins recommended in his book(5-HTP and L-Glutamine), don't know if the supplements are responsible but my night time eating has gone away. I had a real problem with "emotional eating", am widowed and live only with my poodle dog and do get very lonely at times. I am no expert but maybe reading a while before you begin will help you as well. Hope this helps, I wish you great success! |

| Marjorie, I've got a few fur-kids and they are my live-in companions. I admit I'm almost never lonely, but that's just me. I hope to see you here often.

| Yesterday I was feeling a little down....I have to admit. I posted this thread yesterday and hadn't heard/received anything. I came in this morning to find all of this wonderful advice/support/new friends. I think I have found what I lacked the first time around. Support! It is so important. Thank you for all of the advice. I am going to check out the (5-HTP and L-Glutamine)....I too am an emotional eater. Most of my stress/depression comes from all of this extra baggage i've been carrying around. One day at a time. I will get there. With the support of this web-site that I joined yesterday, I know I can count on getting the support/advice/motivation I need during my downfalls. Thanks so much!!! Talk to you soon. |

| I guess our feelings about our weight are all relative. I'd give anything to weigh 180 lbs! I've got a long way to go to get there. My advice to anyone who is feeling loathing for themselves due to their weight - don't! Look to your good points, to what you are inside. Your overall worth isn't measured by your weight, but by what kind of person you are. If you are honest, kind, loving, generous to others - those are the qualities to focus on, not the numbers on the scale or the size of your clothes. Whether you carry an extra 50 lbs or an extra 250 lbs, your worth doesn't plummet because of that. First learn to like yourself just the way you are, and then you'll find it easier to focus on changing your eating habits, day by day.

Hi Micaram, Was thinking about you this morning and wondering how you are doing? Did you get a chance to check out those supplements I spoke of? I think emotional eating is very difficult to overcome....however..it can be done. Let me know how you are doing. Margie |

| Hello all, I'm on a second try too as of last Sunday. Really easy transition, no cravings, in Ketosis since tuesday, but actually gained weight last 2 days. What's up with that?? Is it possible to be in Ketosis and GAIN weight?? From personal experience I know I actually gain on 20 grams, so I'm just staying at like 10 if I can help it. 20 lbs to lose, not a huge amount, but kinda disappointing to not see a big jump. On the plus side I do feel thinner. Thanks for listening... |

| You can gain weight while being in ketosis. Calories do matter. Being in ketosis you will not be hungry, however, if you over eat or eat too many calories, you will gain weight.

| You may want to keep a food diary and write down just what you are eating and when. I did this before starting Atkins years ago. My bad time of day was between 4 and 6 pm when my sons came home from school. |

| I guess that is just normal. But then again, it shouldn't make you defocus. When you know what's lacking in you, it will be easy to attack it and be on track again...Remember, you just said it-It's not diet ; its lifestyle. |

| Hi Margie, Sorry i'm just getting back to you now. Not doing so well. I seem to be gaining weight as well and can't for the life of me figure out what i'm doing wrong. I used to have this induction handy list of allowed food.....but i've been off this WOE for so long......not sure where it went. Does anyone know where I can find one on the internet? I have no gotten around to buying the supplements because i've just been watching the scale go upward and now i'm wondering if this diet is even right for me anymore. I know that sounds rediculous..... it's the only WOE that's ever worked for me. I gotta find a way to kick my body back into gear! It just doesn't work. Second time around is so difficult! ugh! |
