| I just finished going through some of the threads on this subject and never mine I get the picture. I need cravings or sugar spikes like I need a whole in the head. I bought some yesterday and when I get home I will be disposing of it. There no short cuts (I need to keep say that to my self). |

| Sarah, Dreamfield's is really a YMMV kind of thing. If you are not diabetic, it may not spike your blood sugar. In addition, because people react differently to various foods, it may or may not cause cravings for you. If you are concerned about its effect on you, and you are not diabetic, you might try it when you are through induction and see if it has an adverse effect on you. OWL is all about learning how your body reacts to different foods. For example, people react differently to sugar alcohols. Some can have them without the adverse side effects that others experience, while others must avoid them in the slightest amount. Everyone is different. It is smart to learn everything you can about something, but it is a mistake to let other's experience dictate what you do, unless you have another reason to give particular credence to other's reaction to a particular product. The bottom line is that somebody will have something negative to say about anything and you must learn to sort through the "noise" and make your own decision whether or not to try a particular product. For example, early in my l/c experience I found a brown sugar flavored splenda sweetened syrup on-line. I asked some questions on various websites about it. Almost 100% of the comments about the company and the taste of its products were overwhelmingly negative. However, I decided to try a small bottle of it and make my own decision. I am glad that I did, because I now buy that syrup by the 4 gallon case and refill my original bottle with it. If I was not willing to try it because of the negative comments, I would have a lot of recipes that would taste very different, or I would have had to find another acceptable substitute for that flavor in those recipes.

| Thanks Henry I am really trying to do this (lc) the right way this time I am not diabetic but my mother and sister are and I am trying to break the cycle. I have tried the Atkins before and was very successful, but didn't stick to it because I looked @ it as a diet instead as a lifestyle. I am really confused with all the lc products out today and I just want to make good decisions. This is very important to me I am bigger than I have ever been and I want this to become a lifestyle not a diet. Maybe i wont throw the pasta away just use in moderation after the introduction period. I will use this time to do my own research. You are right about not letting other people make make decisions for me . I am usually not so wishy-washy but I guess I am not a newbie to the lc diet but I am a newbie to the lifestyle. So thanks again for the advice . Sometime I need to be put back on the straight an narrow. |

| My experience with dreamfields has been a good one over all. I use it occasionally and have had no problems at all, but you have to note the portion size and really stick to it and also if you try it and you do end up starving then you have to throw the rest out! ;-) If you get on with it well then it can become an occasional treat - it's a brilliant substitute for the real thing. Alternatively...Zuchini pasta is easy and great to eat....take a zuchini, a potato peeler and slice it into 'fat noodle' style strips and then sauté it briefly in a pan with some olive oil - this works fantastically with spaghetti sauce

| If you have access to spaghetti squash you can use that in place of noodles. Cut the squash in half. Put it in the oven in a pan with about a half inch of water.. cook until fork penetrates easily. Take out and scoop out the noodle like squash strands.

| I never had a problem blood sugar wise with Dreamfields. My problem was portion control. It tastes as good as any pasta I've ever had (It wasn't a pasta substitute - it's pasta!) But I can't really lose weight with it in my diet. I certainly wouldn't do it at the beginning of the road. Maybe when I'm older and smarter, I'll be able to take it in small doses during maintenance, but while in weight-loss mode, it's just not for me.

| I really like Dreamfields. Here's my problem with it: because so much of it is non-digestible, it really wrecks my stomach. Bad stomachache. But the taste is phenomenol. |

| My son-in-law, who doesn't really want to do lc, even though he needs to for health and weight issues, actually prefers Dreamfields pasta to regular pasta. Go figure.

| I love it as does my DH. I'm not having it now because of doing Atkins, but if I switch back to PP, I will occasionally.

| I love it too, way too much. The processing plant is just 50 miles down the road from me in Carrington, ND. I love their Dreamfields macoroni and making mac and cheese. YUM!

| you're very wise to be thinking it through and not taking the label's word on your food choices, sarah. and some of these things are problemmatic for most folks, some for a few, some not for many. it can be confusing! in general, for the induction/intro periods, i would avoid any specialty foods. as you go past that point, try things one thing at a time, gauge your reactations, including any bloating or cravings after you eat something. review and decide. the whole thing is a very individual process. and what i can eat without problems will not be the same as what you can eat without problems. products to be VERY careful about would include anything with sugar alcohols (many people have issues with these, including gastrointestinal and/or portion control) and be very careful of the bars, which stall a lot of people. shakes tend to be less problemmatic for most people, but for some, they still are. as far as dreamfields, I eat it without issue but not all the time. some folks, as you've found, do have issues with it so it's a "no" for them. but it's okay to experiment. just do it carefully and pay attention!
