| | Lucky you to have a pool! That is what I really need. For now I have been looking for a recumbent exercise bike as I think I could do that. I need something easy on my knees too. Those are the type of bikes that the seat is down near the floor. I used to have one a long time ago and they make exercising real easy. I could read or watch tv while I did it. Plus, I am using dumbbells with light weights for body strengthening exercises. Can't do any exercises where I have bend my knees, they are that bad. I would get those pies and desserts out of the house fast if I was you. katlupe |

| | Cathy-As your diet improves, your husband's most likely will without any futher intervention from you. (He'll also probably lose easier and faster than you, darned guy that he is! But whaddya gonna do?) I found early on, just having a few "additions" to regular, LC meals for the carb-eaters helpful. Then it isn't two completely different menus. I also kept the stuff that I liked best out of the house, so it meant the carby stuff was at least the stuff less tempting to me. It didn't take too long before the others started eating like me, though. On exercise, a pool is great! I'd also suggest keeping your early efforts simple, such as maybe walking or something like that. Do what you can to keep it as pleasant as possible, since the more you enjoy it, the more you'll be inclinded to do it. While 150 down is your long-term goal, I'd also suggest you start with short-term goals so you can constantly feel your progress as you go along. I lost a hundred pounds, exactly 10 pounds at a time. That much seems possible, whereas a hundred or more didn't....at first. So start with the mini-goals and frequently acknowledge your successes, making it easier to build upon them. Looking forward to sharing your progress with you! Peace out. |

| | Well I did great all day until night time. I ate a plateful of pepperoni and cheese on crackers. I know the pepperoni and cheese are ok but not the crackers. I will need to find a substitute for crackers. At least I gave away the Pecan pie and Christmas cookies! |

| | Make your cheese into crackers. It's easy to do, and really good. I use a small Dixie plate, seems to work the best. Put on a slice of cheese, and nuke for anywhere from 1 minute to 2 1/2 minutes, depending on the kind of cheese and thickness. Provolone works great, and grated parmesan (not the cheap kind in the green can, but either a jar of coarse grated, or your own fresh grated), but I love sharp cheddar, sliced thick. Let it nuke until it's brown, take it out to cool and harden, and you'll have nice snappy crackers to eat with your parmesan. You can also nuke the parmesan to make nice little crispies, just put on a paper plate, nuke, then sop up some of the fat that comes out with a paper towel. Makes a nice crispy snack. You just have to be careful, because it's easy to eat way too many of these cheese crisps. They keep pretty well in a zippered bag or other sealed container, too. If you can just keep your paws off them! |
