I thought I posted this already but my profile says I have not posted so here goes again. I originally joined 01-02-2005 but I have lost and regained 50 or so lbs since then. I think in 2005 I was 250 I am not 300+. My scale needs a little round battery that is hard to find so I will have to wait till my next trip to the grocery store but that scale only goes to 300.
Anyway, I have been off and on Low carb since the 70's. I have tried every diet there is and joined several exercise clubs, ie Shapes, Curves.
I go for a while and then when I have lost 50 lbs I stop loosing and then ev entually I gain it back and more.

I have never gotten over 300 and now I have so it is time to try again.

There is lots of turkey, ham, eggs and cheese in the house. I just have to go to the store for low carb veggies and salad material.

I also have lots of pies and cookies I will have to avoid until my husband eats them up or I give them away. As you can see by the picture my husband also needs to loose weight but will not give up bread or pasta. It makes it hard to have 2 kinds of diet in one family. We are the two fatties in red. The beautiful girl in the middle is our daughter Susie at her wedding last August.

I look forward to blogging and sharing in the coming months. I am hoping this time I could at least lose 100 lbs. I would like to loose 150 but I will try for the 100 first.

I have really bad arthritis in my knees, hips and ankles. I'm sure my weight doesn't help but it is hard to exercise as it is very painful. Luckily I live in Florida and my community has a pool. It will be in the 80's today so I will exercise in the pool. Any other suggestions for exercise?

Lucky you to have a pool! That is what I really need. For now I have been looking for a recumbent exercise bike as I think I could do that. I need something easy on my knees too. Those are the type of bikes that the seat is down near the floor. I used to have one a long time ago and they make exercising real easy. I could read or watch tv while I did it. Plus, I am using dumbbells with light weights for body strengthening exercises. Can't do any exercises where I have bend my knees, they are that bad.

I would get those pies and desserts out of the house fast if I was you.

Cathy-As your diet improves, your husband's most likely will without any futher intervention from you. (He'll also probably lose easier and faster than you, darned guy that he is! But whaddya gonna do?)

I found early on, just having a few "additions" to regular, LC meals for the carb-eaters helpful. Then it isn't two completely different menus. I also kept the stuff that I liked best out of the house, so it meant the carby stuff was at least the stuff less tempting to me. It didn't take too long before the others started eating like me, though.

On exercise, a pool is great! I'd also suggest keeping your early efforts simple, such as maybe walking or something like that. Do what you can to keep it as pleasant as possible, since the more you enjoy it, the more you'll be inclinded to do it.

While 150 down is your long-term goal, I'd also suggest you start with short-term goals so you can constantly feel your progress as you go along. I lost a hundred pounds, exactly 10 pounds at a time. That much seems possible, whereas a hundred or more didn't....at first. So start with the mini-goals and frequently acknowledge your successes, making it easier to build upon them.

Looking forward to sharing your progress with you!

    Peace out.

Well I did great all day until night time. I ate a plateful of pepperoni and cheese on crackers. I know the pepperoni and cheese are ok but not the crackers. I will need to find a substitute for crackers. At least I gave away the Pecan pie and Christmas cookies!

Well pat yourself on your back......you gave away the goodies! Maybe you could put the cheese and pepperoni on cucumber slices? I would just eat them plain as I like little finger foods. Like tonight I ate celery sliced thin so it replaced the chips type of snack.

Make your cheese into crackers. It's easy to do, and really good. I use a small Dixie plate, seems to work the best. Put on a slice of cheese, and nuke for anywhere from 1 minute to 2 1/2 minutes, depending on the kind of cheese and thickness. Provolone works great, and grated parmesan (not the cheap kind in the green can, but either a jar of coarse grated, or your own fresh grated), but I love sharp cheddar, sliced thick. Let it nuke until it's brown, take it out to cool and harden, and you'll have nice snappy crackers to eat with your parmesan. You can also nuke the parmesan to make nice little crispies, just put on a paper plate, nuke, then sop up some of the fat that comes out with a paper towel. Makes a nice crispy snack.

You just have to be careful, because it's easy to eat way too many of these cheese crisps. They keep pretty well in a zippered bag or other sealed container, too. If you can just keep your paws off them!
