great fiber supplement

Posted 08-13-2008 at 08:29 AM by cinnamin

I wanted to share a new fiber supplement I have been taking that is working great for me. The plan I am following said to take psyllium husk and that made me crampy and gave me a headache so I found unifiber. It is a powder and one tbsp has 3 grams of fiber with only 1 carb. It is like eating an entire bran muffin without the fiber. I take it twice a day and I'm having great results. Just wanted to share for anyone who is interested. Constipation was one of my biggest concerns when starting this plan because I used to eat tons of fiber before I started low carbing. Unifiber can be ordered online and is sold at some drugstores.

    thanks for sharing your experience!

for most low carb plans, you do subtract the fiber from the carbs for "net" or "effective" carb count, so you should be able to eat a fair of fiber currently, too. (unless you got most of it from cereal and muffins before...ha!) but i do keep some supps on hand myself, just in case. and i use fiberfit to sweeten my coffee and some baked stuff.

have you checked out either maggie's cereal or the one minute muffin stickies in the cooking thread? both are great sources of fiber, too, and yummy. very popular around here.
