I like to drink protein shakes in the morning and have been using whey or egg white protein with only 1-2 carbs per serving. I came across raw hemp seed protein. It has 9 total carbs, but 8 grams of fiber. I am in induction still and want to know if anyone has any feedback about this. Should I be subtracting fiber from carbs if they are that high this early in the program? I am concerned it may slow down weight loss. I am on day 13.

yes, you can subtract all the fiber from the carb count; pretty much every lc plan does it that way, regardless of what stage of your plan you're at. (do you have a specific plan?) carbs with fiber do not impact your blood sugar levels the same way as carbs without fiber do. and since fiber is found in so many healthy foods and veggies, it's a total bonus.

the time when it's risky to subtract-although manufacturers will do it on the labels-is for most sugar alcohols, because those are processed differently by different people. those, like what you find in the "lc candies" will either leave you in the loo cursing your decision to overindulge or on weighin days cursing the scale...but your focusing on natural as i recall, so you should be in good shape that way. LC junk food is what you've got to watch. we call that "frankenfood" around here...

oh- and many folks reporting that upping their fiber actually helps keep the weight loss moving along. just make sure you drink enough water to help your body manage and "process" the extra fiber.

Thanks Goddess, I just bought the hemp protein powder and it actually has 14 grams of carbs but also 14 grams of fiber--it says 0 net carbs on the bottle. No added ingredients and no sugar alcohols. I think it is an amazing product!
