You know, over the last several months, I've been running at capacity work-wise. I've been stressed and tired. I've been stretching my limits.
And what do you do under those circumstances,
lc-wise?
Well, eat the easy junk, of course.
With the new year and all the back-on-track energy around here (and the knowledge I'm running a LOW CARB site now and it would behoove me to set at least a moderately good example about how low carb can work), I decided to refocus.
I'm not doing induction and I'm not stressing myself out. I'm not ditching all my vices (NO dumping the coffee for me!), but I'm making some little changes. And I've been really impressed at how much they add up.
So far, here's what I'm doing-
- Paying attention again. Just being mindful of my habits and asking myself, "What do you REALLY want?" when I go to the fridge looking for emotional gratification.
- Painless changing. Less powered splenda in my coffee-better than sugar, but still plenty of carbs-and more Fiberfit and Liquid Stevia. Still tastes sweet, but less trouble.
- Making it easier: Keeping a bag of salad in the fridge so easy food doesn't have to mean a sandwich or something.
- Being reasonable: I like the salad dressing with a few more carbs much better. So I get it, knowing that making my salad appealing does me more good than saving 2 carbs per tablespoon for the stuff that I like so-so.
- Getting the Water Jug ready every morning; when I'm not eating well, I still drink water but much less. Pushed myself to make sure that 64 Oz. of bottled goodness is ready at the beginning of my day instead of afternoon like I sometimes did.
- Getting the kid stuff I don't like. My daughter eats carbs, and her weight allows it. But I get her single servers and it's stuff I don't care for now. I can tell myself the big packages are more economical, but they ain't if I have to buy bigger pants!
- Tracking my weight. Got back on that scale after a long break. It's bettter to know.
These are all easy, pretty painless things. And so far, they are paying off. Since the first of the year, I've lost 5 pounds of my "stress" and I'm feeling much better.
Go Low Carb!
