How Can Your Forget THAT?

Posted 01-16-2008 at 06:47 PM by Goddess

I've been busy lately. Like REAL busy. My "day job" clients all get restless to fulfill their new year's resolutions to finish jobs--by way of me, naturally. And I've been kinda spacey, 'cause that's how I get during these periods. I noticed it today.

You see, I just had to shower twice. Not because of some untimely spill or nasty twist of fate, or even something grossing me out real bad. I had to shower twice because I forgot to finish my first shower.

Yes. That's right. I FORGOT how to take a freakin' shower!

I got out of shower 1, merrily combing my hair and applying body cream and reailized...hmmmm. I don't remember shaving...hey, wait! I don't remember WASHING.

Yes, my friends. I'm 42 years old and have been showering without adult intervention for many, many years now. But I forgot one of the integral steps. Washing!

When I was finished laughing at myself, I hopped back in, finished my shower, and vowed to take a little time off this evening. Evidently, I'm preoccupied and could use a change of pace.

I sure know what you mean. There are times that a person just "checks out." When I'm really overloaded with distractions, I find that taking a 15-20 minute period of relaxation or meditation or whatever works for you, relieves tensions and mental clutter. I can focus much better and feel very refreshed. Try it out.

    An additional note...
A mind is a terrible thing to lose.

You know, that's an excellent suggestion and when I'm in that groove, I do better. I think I'll give that another go and give myself some "Zen Breaks."

On a side note, I told this story to my husband, who didn't seem to think that was unusual at all. "I do stuff like that all the time," he says.

I've never forgotten to wash, but I have forgotten to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. So, don't feel bad, Dixie. You're not alone.
