Shopped Online Today

Posted 02-25-2009 at 09:11 PM by katlupe

Today was our day to run errands. I had tons of packages to take to the post office and my husband was nice enough to help me carry them in. I hadn't been shopping too much at Walmart as ever since they made it a super store it is too big for me to shop in. I need things for both ends and hardly anything in the middle. My legs could not take it. Since I have lost some weight though, it wasn't too bad today.

I had to get a new mouse to go with my new computer as my old one did not work on it, had the wrong connector. So now I am getting used to the new computer, Vista and a new mouse...all at the same time. Plus last month I had gotten a new printer because the old one died. So I am good to go for awhile at least.

This morning I FINALLY placed an order at Netrition! I am so excited. They had lots of things I wanted but I had to hold myself back. The thing is that I need certain things to make the recipes I find online and here. I have been dying to make the one minute muffin so I will be able to try it now. I am happy when I am able to make new recipes as it makes the low carb food new and tasty that way. I have lots of ideas of changing some old recipes that I have to low carb. Since most casseroles use rice, potatoes or pasta I will just substitute low carb vegetables in it. New taste, new look but an old recipe.

The products that I wonder about are coconut flour, flaxseed meal and almond flour. I read mixed reviews on Netrition's site about the coconut flour being dry, but that could be fixed with more fat I think. I love coconut so maybe that would taste pretty good to me. I have basically only been eating meat, cheese, eggs and low carb vegetables. So I needed to find something with some grain like taste or feel to it. I didn't order it this time. I think I will try it next order.

I just wanted to say that yesterday morning I ordered from Netrition.......my order came today! Can you believe it? But of course, I see by the address label they are in Albany. I like that! I will be ordering from them regular. My stuff, the things I tasted or smelled were so good. I am really happy with this order. Thank you Goddess for putting them on here!

I love Netrition! Now, for the coconut flour, they've changed the carb count from what it used to be, with a much higher count. However, a bit added to the OMM or to your hot cereal (I love it in my hot cereal, gives it a better texture) won't up the count that much. If you use it to bake, just add a bit more fat, it will make a big difference.

Almond flour is fabulous! It has a lot of fiber, and is wonderful for making the OMM or cookies, pancakes, etc. Flaxseed meal, especially the golden organic, is the basis for the OMM, but you can also make it with almond flour, or a mixture. Adding just a bit of coconut flour helps to make a more tender muffin, btw.

For my cereal, I mix equal parts flaxseed meal and vanilla whey protein powder, and just a bit of coconut flour, add hot water, and we have a really nice hot cereal.

Thanks for the tips Nita! I bought Bob's Golden Flaxseed Meal and the Almond flour. Both of them smelled very fresh and good. Made my first OMM today! Came out very good.
