does being sick raise your blood sugar?

Posted 02-22-2009 at 11:30 PM by kevinsblondie

Since starting low carb, I have been doing really well at keeping my blood sugar well under control, but the last 2 days I have been sick with fever and chills and noticed my blood sugar was toooooo high. Has anyone else experienced this? I hope it is a normal side affect and will go back down when I get to feeling better!!

i've heard other folks say that being ill or injured (or highly stressed) does impact their blood sugar. i don't test mine so i can't say from personal experience, but i sure wouldn't be surprised.

    hope you're feeling better soon!!

Right after the "illness" went away, my sugar is right back to what it was before. Thank goodness. I always worry that I'm screwing up my body worse by trying to make it better!! There are so many fans and naysayers of this low carb way of life.
