I was thinking about my life a couple years ago when I gained all this weight. Looking back sometimes to see how we gain and why is sometimes a good way to change the way we handle stress and food.
Two years ago I weighed 140 lbs. I was working out with a trainer three days a week. Because of the muscle and toned look I looked more like 120. I was in awesome shape physically and mentally. Then.......
My son and his friends were renting my house. My son got transferred out of state with his job and left his friends to tend the house. I knew the kids well enough and thought things were fine. But I soon found out the house was three mos behind in payment and all the utilities had been shut off. So I decided to kick them out and move home.......
Once home I tried to get the utilities into my name. When I got there the utilities were still on. What I found out was they kids had hooked them up.....illigally. .....
5 thousand dollars in legal fees and such later I was still without heat for a whole year. Through the winter! My son jumped in and really helped out. But during this time I took on a 2nd job and stopped going to the gym. Stopped eating right. Started junking it again, starbucks, fast foods...bammmm the wt fell back on. To make matters worse I had lost all the weight doing low fat/high carb eating. Which is known not to be effective long term.
So, as one of my college prof's stated...stress causes weight and kills life cells. My goal with this weight loss and I'm really not calling it a weight loss/aka diet, but a life change. A life change in eating and behavior. I'm learning relaxation techniques , with menopause I tend to stress out , to do every day.
