12 weeks 6 days

I've been discouraged these past 10 days. I know I'm going to the scale too much (I refused to have one for years because I remember my mom weighing before and after meals) However, every morning for the past 10 days there has been no weight loss. Even up a couple pounds.
I have my following Atkins with some alterations for my lifestyle. I did not give up coffee. It's something that is on my "to do list." because I know one or two cups a day is okay but not one or two 12 cup pots (which is what I do). I also need to give up cigarettes but that is on my "to do list." after I wean down from caffeine.
I am controlling my blood sugar. This was my original goal and weight loss wasn't on my mind. I was what I was and I had accepted it. I didn't have to buy plus size clothing since 2003 so I figured L/XL was what it was going to be for me.
These past 15 days my blood sugar has been back to the 130' to 150's fasting. Prior to that I was having the lowest numbers in 20 years - 80's & 90's upon waking up. I do know that stress has always been part of my diabetes but the LCE put me into normal ranges.
Under 150 on insulin was my own personal goal so I wasn't too alarmed to see that while NOT taking insulin.
I wondered if the few drops of cream I took in my coffee was throwing me off. I normally used powdered skim milk as a little lightner in my coffee. I ran out and was using a few drops of cream.
This morning my plan was to make a pound cake for some frozen strawberries I bought at the wholesale club and whip up my whipped cream. I've been baking from scratch for a couple of years and thought this would make a nice treat for my husband and possibly any visitors that might come to watch todays inauguration.
I had fully intended to consume whatever batter was left when I finished this baking. My "treat" has always been to scrape the cookie bowl or batter bowl even though I have stayed away from the finished product for years. I got through massive holiday baking without doing it once - even rinsing chocolate off my fingertips as I baked.
Well....after 10 days of the scale staying frozen or going in the wrong direction...I'm down lower than I've been. 4 pounds lower than yesterday! And...my fasting blood sugar is 111 this morning.
I came to the LCE site and looked at my profile. I've been doing this WOE for 12 weeks and 6 days. I thought it was much longer because October seems so far behind me now. I'm down a solid 25 pounds from where I had been frozen for three years.
The plan to have the pound cake batter is now not going to happen. I'll make the cake and serve it with strawberries and whipped cream but I'll have my strawberries with whipped cream I'll make for me with some sweet & lo added and everyone else will have the sugar one.
While the initial weight loss scared me because it seemed to be happening so fast...a little bit EVERY day...I'm now embracing it and looking forward to getting my 23" waist back and losing all of my tummy.
This is a good day.

Way to go MaryLee! Sounds like you made some well thought out decisions there. Watching the weight go down, and in your case, your blood sugar levels also, helps you stick to it. Especially when you have those moments of "just a little of this won't hurt."

the pauses in losses even while you're sticking pretty close to plan are quite normal, marylee. it can be scary after seeing the steady downward trend of intial efforts at LC, though.

it's also very common to have a "whoosh" after a pause in losses. so what you're describing is very normal and expected to someone who's seen lots of folks LC over the years. I think you're doing great, both in managing your blood sugars and making those changes in your thinking that will help you maintain things long term. keep on keeping on, sister!!
