Back In The Saddle

omg, what a week - Friday the 21st I got the beck n' call from the higher up's - as suspected things are REALLY bad with the firm - they let me go!! HOW the eff Los Angeles Lawyers can NOT make money is beyond me - but I did know things were bad, just had hopes they'd pull it together and be able to keep me. SO - yea, it threw me into a pity party and I just spent the last week-plus eating everything that wasn't nailed down (no worries, the dog is safe). So, here I go, starting induction again. I've taken stock and have made the choice THIS has got to be it. I've cancelled my membership to Weight Watchers - I just can NOT hang with those gals anymore - faux food and whining about drinking water - enough to send you screaming to the nearest bar!! I've been doing lots of reading, here and some cookbooks I got, am making better food choices and how funny - this is day 2 and I already feel MUCH better! So a week of feeling sorry for myself (8 years with one firm, I think I'm entitled) and now it's ME TIME!!!!

So sorry to hear about the job, Tara. That stinks on ice! But hey, once things start going downhill, they usually don't run back up, so maybe in the big picture, it was a good thing. I know every time I've ever lost a job, in the long run, it's been a gift. But of course that's easier to say that to feel.

Glad to hear you've wrapped up the pity party and are ready to rejoin real life. It does feel a lot better, methinks.

Hi Carmen - well, I HIGHLY suggest that you take a morning once a week to do some bulk cooking. I find (and this was true for me while on WW too) that having 'go to' foods at the ready makes all the difference between doing well or pulling my hair out! Hard boil some eggs, poach up some chicken breast and make salad with both. I think the one big thing to remember is that you DO have to eat good carbs daily. Going too low on carbs is just as bad as going too low on points - you don't lose weight that way, you actually gain it. I highly suggest reading though the posts here, post a daily meal plan if you want help in that and do.not.give.up!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your rough patch, but things will look up. Some employer will no doubt see your value and snatch you up for themselves!

Great to hear that you're back to taking care of yourself, too.
