Planning my plan

Posted 01-03-2008 at 09:42 PM by QueenMama

Sunday I am going to go back to the original Atkins 1972 plan. It's what has always worked best for me. The first time I lost, this was the plan I used. I dropped 85 lbs, wham! And felt great, too.

So, I'm going to go shopping for all the meat, cheese and eggs I'm going to need, and the salad fixings.

I've started a 100 Day Challenge in the Challenge Thread, and anyone who wants to join me can certainly do so. My challenge is to stay on plan from January 6, to not stray even once, for a full 100 days, which will take me into mid-April.

We are planning a trip back to Ohio in May (can't wait to see the tulips and lilacs that should be in bloom by then!), see family we haven't seen in some time, and old friends. We'll marvel at how all the children have grown and are now parents and even grandparents themselves. And lie to everyone about how wonderful they look, and smile when they tell us the same lies! And I want to look a lot better by then, so I really want to be down at least 25 lbs. 50 would be better, but I'll actually take what I can get. We'll be there just over a week. Our flight is booked, as is a motel for the week, and a rental car, so we're all set. I'm sure it will be very hard to stay on plan during that time, but we will make every effort to stick as close to plan as possible. Of course, just the stress of the trip will cause me to gain; it always happens. But without stress, would we really appreciate those rare, non-stressful times? Yes, I think that non-stressful times would be fully appreciated if there was no more stress to bog us down.

I was getting an evaluation at a curves one time, and she asked if I had "stress" in my life regarding issues that impacted eating.

I laughed and said, "Well, yeah, I'm alive, ain't I?"

Love that, Goddess! Actually, I think there's so much more stress trying the low cal/low fat thing, because you are never satisfied. I tried it one time, and was grazing all evening long, looking for something "legal" that I could eat because I was still hungry. Lost about 10 lbs doing that, and decided it wasn't worth it, I'd rather be fat. Now I'm happily eating until satisfied, and usually don't have the need to graze at night anymore.

I did the low-fat route more than once myself and came to the same conclusion: not worth it to me. i tried to tell myself that rumbling in my tummy was "losing weight." still wasn't motivational. go figure.

but now, we've got low carb and we can EAT when we're hungry. yep...much less stress!

You are both so right. There is just less work here. I keep track of my food, but it's not like I'm walking around with a list "I'm allow 200 more calories by the end of the day and I havent had dinner. Rice cakes for me!" That's stress

I thought eating rice cakes was just like eating a Styrofoam cup, man...blech!

Yeah, Dixie, but now you can get caramel flavored styrofoam, or even with chocolate on top! Gross!
